We had a good group of OL/DL show up for the Redzone Next Atlanta combine over the weekend. It is amazing to see the size and the ability of these young men that have yet to take their 1st snap of varsity football. Below are the 5 that caught my eye during the metrics, Indy, and the 1v1 drills.

'28 Terrence Brandon

Brandon has been gifted with size at an early age. The rising freshman from Chapel Hill Middle school stands at 6'4 253 and was my pick for OL/DL MVP. He passes the eye test off the bus, big body with long arms and thick lower body. I watched him run the 40 and he ran with long strides and had the knees pumping. Good technician in the 1v1's with solid footwork. The agility to get up and out and get in front of smaller quicker DL. Brandon is still carrying a little baby weight ,which is expected for an 8th grader, but a few years in a high school weight room and this guy will be an outstanding high school LT and will be on college recruiting boards. See clip below: He throws shotput in the offseason.

Hard to believe this kid still has one more year of middle school ball left. The 5'11 215 DL from Gainesville Middle School was almost impossible to block on Saturday. Great agility and gets off the ball with his 1st step as well as anyone at the camp. Aggressive from the snap and has long arms that he uses to keep the OL off of him. Strong, physical guy that is going to fun to watch develop over the next 5 years.

The 6'4 300 rising Freshman from Edwards Middle School in Conyers already has a high school frame. A little raw at this point, which you can expect from a 8th grader, but has all the tools to be a big time high school OL. He likes to mix it up and didn't shy away from contact in the 1v1s. I scouted his film post camp and liked how aggressive he was last season at the middle school level. He is already putting in work in the weight room and a few seasons in a high school weight and conditioning program and this guy will be P4 prospect.

The 6'1 265 North Forsyth prospect showed the best overall technique on the day. Very polished for a rising high schooler. Was matched up with bigger fellas all day in the 1v1's but held his own. Projects as a guard or center at the high school level and is a 3x FBU GA Middle School All Star. At this age it all depends on vertical development but I could see this guy getting college looks at the center position in the next 4 years.

The 5'11 220 Calhoun product didn't get to complete the event after shutting it down after the metrics portion in an abundance of caution with Spring practice coming up. I've seen him in the past and I saw enough in the testing portion to know this guy is going to be a good one. The most well built of all the campers, a solid muscled 220. He recorded the best broad jump of the 200+ guys and ran a solid 40 before shutting it down for the day. Future All State potential.
