Sampton is a big framed kid with good strength and power at the POA who should fit in nicely at the next level at the IOL position. He holds his weight well and is a true vertical run blocker that has a quick first step and powerful initial punch while driving his feet and sustaining blocks downfield while not afraid to finish with nasty intentions. He shows he can pull and get to the second level quickly while taking good angles to linebackers, and is a true road grader in the run game that will excel in college in the right system. In pass protection, he shows heavy hands when chopping down bull rushers, and shows patience against speed rushers while able to post against counters and create a nice pocket with his feet as well. The Crushers run first system fits perfectly with Sampton’s play style, and he is a no brainer next level kid that should be collecting college interest this off-season and through his Senior year.
Highlights
Osana has recently transferred to Redwood Christian as they are starting up their first season of football in the North Coast Section, and he is one of the better two-way lineman across the Bay Area. He is a two-way mauler and is extremely twitchy off the ball, shows violent hands and quick block recognition while able to move and redirect in space when making plays behind the LOS. He is a powerful run stopper that can two-gap and rush off the edge while extremely explosive in the short area and has a quick use of hands at the POA. Offensively, he creates immediate vertical push and can quickly pull and kick out/get to the second level when needed, and relies on a low hat, natural strength and inside hand control when run blocking. Look for the RC standout to be one of the regions top two-way lineman in 2024 and should have no problem finding a home at the next level.
Castillo is a high academic and IQ kid that should fit nicely at the D3+ level in college, and is athletic from his center position while showing good movement abilities out of his stance, second level blocking and is excellent in pass protection while able to direct traffic pre-snap. Although a bit undersized, Castillo does a nice job at getting underneath defenders, winning with a consistent inside punch and can create immediate vertical push while finishing blocks downfield and taking the proper angles to linebackers. He does a good job at re-setting his hands against counters, and stays patient for stunts up-front while having a strong understanding of protection schemes and adjusting on the fly. He is a very balanced player that plays for one of the most respected programs in the loaded SJS, and will once again lead the offensive line unit this Fall as Casa Roble has tons of next level talent returning in 2024.
