Xavier Newsom Xavier Newsom 6'5" | 215 lbs | DL Detroit King | 2025 State MI , TE, Michigan– If you came here just to find a ready made D1 prospect, look no further. He’s all of 6’5, and looks ready for Power 5 ball. His release is smooth, his run is without a hitch, and his hands are soft. Obviously with this large frame, he can just overpower any DB or LB that is unfortunate enough to line up against him. Being from Michigan, I am a little more familiar with his game, but it doesn’t leave me any less impressed when he does something incredible. “Tree” was spectacular once again today, and I expect his game to be on point tomorrow in bracket play.
Jacob Cunningham, DB, Indiana- Not only is the on field talent important, but I think the grit, confidence and swagger are just important, especially for DBs. I really liked his press coverage, as he was able to out-physical his assignment off the line and reroute him, which completely ruined the play for the offense. When the receiver was able to run a route, he was all over their hip, and on multiple occasions, he was able to swat the ball away cleanly, and him and the rest of his defensive teammates were causing a flurry of interceptions. Cunningham is an athletic and confident athlete who will accomplish some special things as long as he continues to hone his craft. I’m excited to see him against some of the best receivers on campus tomorrow.
Julian Bray, DB, Indiana- Julian is another Indy boy who was just flying around. It seemed like every time the ball left the QBs hand, there was a chance Bray was going to be on top of it. To end one of the games, he displayed great awareness and concentration to intercept a ball that had been tipped. He’s starting to fill out, and how well he moves. Julian will be one to watch in day 2, as I think he could be an X-Factor for his squad.
Nolan Teising, WR, Indiana- I could tell Nolan had some potential right away, and it didn’t take long to see it. Nolan is a very special receiver in that I think he can run just about anything on the tree and win his rep. He has good size, solid ups, and good technique on his release. He can go to work after the catch as well, which makes him all the more threatening. Nolan will have my eye heading into the knockout rounds here on day 2.
Jamison Parsell, ATH, Michigan- I have recently seen some clips of Jamison on social media, and I really liked what I saw. Today, I was even more impressed. Jamison has the rare skill of being able to just find an opening, and sitting in it instead of continuing on until he essentially covers himself like you see some others do. He displayed a well above average football IQ, and he has the physical traits to go with it. He is speedy enough to get around DBs, he’s athletic enough to go over them, and he has just enough physicality to go through them if need be. I’m actually very excited to see how he follows up his day 1 performance.
