Lewis was a ton of fun to watch because he was the biggest and tallest guy on his team going up and over defenders for grabs making them look small. I hate to say it and I even joked with him about it, but he truly is a sneaky good athlete. When he gets the ball in his hands he finds a second gear. He was hard to tag and would pick up more yardage after the catch than the defense would like to admit. He’s got a great feel for his body and how to use it to his advantage down in the Red Zone. I get it’s 7 on 7, but I like that he’s not afraid to be physical. I didn’t get to see them on Day 2, but Lewis was a beast on Day 1 for them and I left thoroughly impressed with what he showcased in just a few games.
I could be wrong, but I believe Wireman was playing up and he looked great. He was actually the first QB of the weekend I pulled to the side. He was throwing with anticipation, wasn’t hesitating to let it loose, and was putting the ball in good spots. He knew where his outlets were when the timer was running low and he always gave his guy a chance for the ball. His placement and timing is what could set him above. He doesn’t panic, stays cool, and makes a decision based on what he’s actually seeing develop in-front of him. It’s just 7 on 7, but seeing him read a defense and go through progressions like that at a young age is exactly what you want to see. A very solid outing for the young QB from Tennessee.

Highlights
The only Lefty QB of the weekend showed up and made it worth his while. He’s got a big arm and can let it go downfield. He can throw into tight spots and hit windows as they open. His mechanics are a work in progress, but once they get there he could really flourish because of his arm talent. He’s able to make all the throws, there are just times he seems to be too hard on himself. I love seeing young guys who care, but I don’t want them to overthink and tear themselves down. My observation with Larson is that he can be hard on himself, but when he gets hot, he gets hot. He had one of the better throws of the weekend right up the seem for a TD from about 30-yards out. He later ripped one out to his right for a TD in the flat and you could see the talent and swagger he’s got.

Javion Richardson
Javion Richardson
One of the better pure raw athletes on the field for the 15U group was Richardson. Not only did he put himself on my radar moving forward in Indiana, but it’s only a matter of time until his athleticism comes through and everyone takes notice. He was playing both WR and DB this weekend and seemingly never came off the field. He’s got a good natural feel at DB and can keep anyone in phase as a route develops downfield. However, it was when he caught the ball it felt like his true athletic ability came through because he flipped a switch and found another gear and level of agility he hadn’t shown yet. Explosive doesn’t quite give him justice for what he does with the ball in his hands. A 2-way player who can make plays on both sides is always a good target and Richardson is now on the radar.

One of the younger QBs there who I believe was playing up was D’Agosta who just has a confidence about him that other guys seem to love. He’s energetic and brought a different level to the team when he rotated in. He never seemed to shy away from the moment and was willing to step in and sling it. He knew where he was supposed to go with the ball and didn’t beat himself up too much if he missed a throw. He moved onto the next rep and didn’t let things linger, which I appreciated. Their coach could get on them and. D’Agosta took all the coaching in stride and never batted an eye. It was an impressive weekend for the young gun in my opinion.
