Not far behind Phillipsburg is Ridge and Hillsborough. All three programs will compete for the top spot in the division since all three are returning talent at some of the most important positions in the sport. Look for this to be one of the most exciting and talented divisions in Central Jersey.
Aidan Stieglitz
Aidan Stieglitz
A stud on both sides of the ball, Aidan Stieglitz is a big man to fear lining up for Ridge. As a runner, Aidan was able to use his size to his advantage and rush for 304 yards and 3 touchdowns last season. He is a player that is tough to slow down once he gets going, and I foresee him trucking a few defenders on his way to the end zone next season. A runner with a strong lower body, Aidan breaks through arm tackles and emerges on the other side ready to square up against the next opponent. Not only will he be hurting opponents when he’s on offense, but his impact extends onto the defensive side of the ball as well where he was able to get to the quarterback twice last season.
Last offseason I viewed Jett Genovese Jett Genovese 5’10” | 200 lbs | QB Phillipsburg | 2025 NJ as one of the most underrated players not only in the division but within the state. 2023 showed us he was not only a top tier talent but is also now receiving the recognition he deserves. Responsible for 17 touchdowns last fall, Jett found the end zone 14 times through the air and ran it in himself another 3 times. Showing flashes of greatness and composure, especially when under duress, Jett was able to maintain his eyes downfield, get his body into the throw, and deliver dimes into tight windows. Jett is a Houdini of sorts, as his mobility within the pocket allowed him to extend the play and give himself more time to make a play when it looked like he was on the verge of getting sacked. Throwing for 1351 yards last season, don’t be surprised if Jett creeps towards or exceeds the 2000 yard mark.
Matthew Scerbo Matthew Scerbo 6’2″ | 175 lbs | WR Phillipsburg | 2025 NJ Jr. has two advantages that are tough to match up against; speed and height. Racking up 717 yards and 6 touchdowns for Phillipsburg last fall, Matt may be the most worrisome downfield threat within the division. A long stride runner, Matt is able to break away from defenders once he gets into open field. What’s most impressive is Matt’s stop and go capabilities. He can get the secondary to commit to the stutter step and take off downfield. His footwork creates huge separation, giving Jett an easy passing lane to throw into.
Arguably the best returning running back in American Silver, Jackson Jankowicz Jackson Jankowicz 5’9″ | 170 lbs | RB Hillsborough | 2025 NJ gives Hillsborough reason to believe they can be a top dog within the division. Amassing 1012 rushing yards and 9 offensive touchdowns, Jackson can slice up defenses with his agility and lateral quickness. A legitimate speed threat, Jackson has the vision to always find his way out of trouble and then turn on the afterburners to dart by the defenders. A nimble runner, Jackson is no easy player to get to the ground. He can get knocked off his running path and still maintain an upright position as he chugs along.
Ryan Turner
Ryan Turner
A true run and receiving threat, Ryan Turner is a multifunctional talent that behaves like a sprinter when he sees daylight. Ryan played a huge role on the offense in 2023, as he totaled just under 700 offensive yards and 10 total touchdowns. The Ridge running back was great in the run game, but may have made an even bigger impact in the pass game last season. Ridge’s run dominant offense set Ryan up to be wide open every time they ran play action. He can come down with the ball in traffic and even reel the ball in as he stretches out fully to make the catch. Ryan is a player to know about within American Silver.
