Vaughn is one of the more dynamic and put together prospects across the North Bay in the 2026 class, and has had a very nice start to his prep career for Redwood. He is a two-sport rugby and football player and is a tough and physical in the box banger, that is effective on both sides of the ball. Offensively, he is a straight lined runner that excels at making plays inside the tackles, and runs hard with a low pad level and natural forward lean with good leg drive through contact while very tough to take down in the open field. Defensively, he is a downhill plug that can play both linebacker and defensive end, and is explosive off the ball, flashes violent hands and bend around the edge while a relentless pursuit guy that is seemingly always around the ball.
Phillips is a big and physical back, that is a north and south runner with forward lean, leg drive through contact and can rumble for tough yards inside the tackles with some deceptive off-tackle speed as well. He is a big and powerful player that is physical at the POA, and a good athlete for his size. He passes the eye test as a in the box athlete, and due to his athleticism, natural size and strength, he should find his home at the inside linebacker position at the next level and see his recruitment pick up after the season. Heading into his Junior season for Buchanan, Phillips is a bit of a unknown and has had a quiet start to his prep career, but is definitely a kid that could really breakout this up-coming season for the Bears.
