With that being said, I wanted to highlight some players at each position that deserve and are still seeking their first college offer. To kick off this series, here are some quarterbacks in the class of 2025 in the state of Kentucky that still need offers.
Luke Pennington Luke Pennington 6’0″ | 180 lbs | QB Sayre School | 2025 State KY is a quarterback that I’m still very shocked doesn’t have an offer yet. He had an outstanding junior year, completing 171/252 passes for 2,555 yards, 50 touchdowns, and no interceptions in 13 games. Pennington has shown impressive accuracy, showing the ability to hit his receivers out of their breaks and put the ball where only his intended receiver can catch it. He has also shown the arm strength to stretch the field in the deep passing game. Luke also finished this past season with one rushing touchdown. Pennington has received a lot of college interest and I believe that first offer will be coming soon as he is a Division I caliber quarterback prospect.
Highlights
Clay Hayden Clay Hayden 6’1″ | 180 lbs | QB Beechwood | 2025 State KY is another quarterback that I’m surprised hasn’t received his first offer yet. He had a strong junior year in which he completed 210/288 passes for 3,910 yards, 48 touchdowns, and seven interceptions in 14 games. Hayden has a very strong arm which he uses to lead his receivers down the field and hit them in stride in the deep passing game. He has also shown the ability to move around in the pocket to avoid pressure while keeping his eyes down the field to find the open receiver. Hayden also scored one rushing touchdown this past seasons. I expect that first offer to come soon for Hayden as he has received a nice amount of college interest.
Highlights
Rhett Holbrook Rhett Holbrook 6’3″ | 175 lbs | QB Boyd County | 2025 State KY is a quarterback that has been high on my radar for a while now and continued to stand out this past season. He had a solid junior year, completing 149/223 passes for 2,051 yards, 19 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions in 12 games. Holbrook throws a very impressive deep ball, showing the arm strength to stretch the field and touch to put the ball where only his intended receiver can catch it. He is also dangerous with his legs, finishing this past season as his team’s leading rusher with 144 carries for 614 yards and 11 touchdowns. Rhett has started to take some visits to college programs and I can see an offer coming his way going into his senior year.
Kanyon Johnson Kanyon Johnson 6’5″ | 205 lbs | QB Madisonville-North Hopkins | 2025 State KY is another quarterback that has been on my radar for a while now and continued to stand out this past season. He had an impressive junior year, completing 146/213 passes for 1,925 yards, 18 touchdowns, and five interceptions in 11 games. Johnson has a very strong arm which he uses to lead his receivers down the field in the deep passing game. While he is impressive as a passer, he is just as talented as a ball carrier, using his speed and athleticism to break away for long runs at any given moment. Johnson finished this past season as his team’s leading rusher with 136 carries for 1,287 yards and 16 touchdowns. I can see some offers coming Kanyon’s way going into his senior year as he has already been receiving some college interest.
