Following my breakdown of the top 15U standouts, here’s my list of the top 2027 quarterbacks that made their presence known in Murfreesboro.
In the first place spot on my list is Kevin Johnson Kevin Johnson 6’0″ | 185 lbs | QB Fort Dorchester | 2027 SC , a quarterback for Slaughterhouse Elite that earned MVP honors for winning the 15U championship game. What impressed me about Johnson’s playstyle was his composure under pressure and ability to calculate his passes to avoid getting picked off. Johnson’s ability to hit his receivers in stride from along the edge also made a huge difference.
Highlights
I am additionally impressed with Bryce Backus, a quarterback for West Michigan Drive 7v7 that impressed me with his strong footwork, ability to scan the field for open receivers and his pin-point accuracy in the air. I also liked Backus due to his ability to make smart passes under pressure, punching his team into the 15U title game with his performance under center.
Highlights
Claiming the number three spot on my list is Vernon Slaughter, a quarterback for Yog Select 7v7 caught my attention with his precise decision-making and ability to complete the deep pass despite heavy defensive coverage around the endzone. Slaughter impresses me with his ability to capitalize on substantial space in the backfield, utilizing his quick release to find an open receiver for the touchdown.
Highlights
Another prospect to watch for is Marcus Cameron Marcus Cameron 6’1″ | 155 lbs | QB Blackman | 2027 TN , a quarterback for Team Grind Hard 7v7 that proved his arm strength and pin-point accuracy at the helm of the offense. What stood out about Cameron’s playstyle was his deceptive passing, proving he can fake the deep pass and sling it to an open receiver from along the edge. I also liked Cameron’s quick release and ability to complete the short pass.

Coming in at number five on my list is AJ Jackson, a quarterback for Team Showtime 7v7 that impressed me with his quick execution and ability to push into enemy territory with his deep passing. Jackson’s ability to lock in offensively to quickly run away with the game stood out, showcasing his ability to complete the short pass on third-down, launch the deep pass and overwhelm the opposition on the scoreboard.
