We have an explosive EDGE Rusher from University Liggett, a dynamic receiver from Lutheran North, and a three-headed offensive monster in the backfield of Riverview Gabriel Richard. I’m confident that any one of these athletes could do great on a Division 3 college football team, some with Division 2 potential.
OLB | Liam Kurtz Liam Kurtz 6'5" | 185 lbs | TE University Liggett | 2026 State MI | University Liggett | Hudl
Liam has some very fun highlights. He mainly operated as an on-ball OLB/EDGE Rusher. When he’s asked to rush the passer, man is it scary. Liam earned several sacks lining up in a 2-pt stance as a 5/6i technique. He has a great, explosive getoff and gets to the quarterback within 2-3 seconds. Either he goes unblocked, or he’s far too quick and explosive for the opposing tackle to react.
His offensive highlights show a completely different side to his game. As a Tight End, he has several decent receiving highlights. He isn’t the best route runner or playmaker after the catch, but he can get open and be that possession target. He does have a few blocking highlights that make me optimistic about his tenacity and physicality. Liam could be a good college prospect as an edge rusher if he tests well. I am very interested to see his broad jump in particular.
WR/S | Hudson Macdonald Hudson Macdonald 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR Lutheran North | 2025 State MI | Lutheran North | Hudl
I’m going to be keeping a close eye on Hudson from now on. I didn’t know who he was before today, and his highlights make him look like a solid college prospect. Last season, he had just under 1000 AP yards, 11 TDs, but great numbers in YPC and YPR. That said, he’s a great explosive playmaker on the offensive side of the ball, and it isn’t always just on deep bombs. I’m interested in seeing Hudson’s testing stats because he looks pretty fast on film, has a long stride, and his change of direction looks solid. According to Athletic.net, Hudson’s 100M dash PR is a 12.4, but he once had an 11.7 4×100 split, which seems about right looking at his football film. I like his vision, playmaking, route running, and athletic foundation. He could be a great NAIA prospect and could get D3 looks as well.
RB | Antonio Sobush Antonio Sobush 5'10" | 160 lbs | RB Riverview Gabriel Richard | 2025 State MI | Riverview Gabriel Richard | Hudl
Riverview Gabriel Richard seems to have quite the three-headed monster on offense. Antonio seems like the most versitile player on thier offense, as he lines up all over the field. As an outside receiver, he’s a solid 50/50 ball guy, and he shows off his speed running downfield. As a prototypical running back, he shows explosiveness running between the tackles and can break tackles for extra yards. Where I think he thrives most is in the slot where he’s able to be utilized in motion either as a decoy or a speed-in-space player.
If I’m a defensive coordinator, I’m stopping Antonio at all costs, especially when he’s running in motion. When he gets a running start, Antonio is able to explode up the field and outrun the vast majority of his competition for an explosive play. His vision is also quite good, and he has a few subtle yet effective moves in the open field. Just a bit better contact balance and vision would take his game to a new level.
RB | Joey Calhoun | Riverview Gabriel Richard | Hudl
Joey is likely Gabriel Richard’s best between-the-tackles running back. Specifically, he’s quite explosive once he gets to the second level. He’s good at being patient for his hole to open up, and once it does, he hits it hard and seems to accelerate quickly. He doesn’t waste time making unnecessary moves in the open field and mostly just runs north-south. With a great offseason in the weight room and gym he’ll take a step up for his senior season.
QB | Nick Sobush | Riverview Gabriel Richard | Hudl
Nick led the way at Quarterback for Gabriel Richard’s 32PPG offense. He’s someone that I’d consider an athlete first and quarterback second, which is not at all a bad thing at the high school level. It’s obvious why Gabriel Richard decides to put the ball in his hands every single down. As a passer, he gets the job done. He rarely stands in the pocket and gets the ball out quickly like a pro-style QB, but he is excellent at improvising outside of the pocket.
There are times when he’s able to run outside the pocket and throw downfield with good accuracy. I think he’s best when he has a running lane. He’s an incredibly explosive athlete, and his acceleration is off the charts (makes sense considering he’s an excellent point guard). Great in the open field and excellent improviser Nick is a gifted athlete who should have a phenomenal senior season at QB.
