Andruw Andujo, EP Austin: Andujo was dynamic on both sides of the ball for the Panthers in 2023. He had 27 receptions for 553 yards and 2 TD, averaging 20.5 yards per catch, while rushing for 135 yards on just 16 carries and serving as Austin’s kick returner. He finished with 990 all-purpose yards. And he made 27 tackles with 1 INT on defense. Definitely one of the best all-around young players in Far West Texas.
Erick Blucher, Andress: What’s eye-opening about Blucher’s numbers isn’t his total number of receptions (25) or receiving TD (6), it’s his average yards per reception. Blucher averaged an impressive 22.4 yards per catch, evidence of his speed, elusiveness and dynamic skills.
Martin Castro, Ysleta: Castro handled the bulk of Ysleta’s run-game responsibilities in 2023, finishing with over 600 yards rushing. He had 4 games of 100+ yards rushing. A promising young talent.
Atreyu De La Riva, Franklin: The Cougars just missed out on making the playoffs but De La Riva enjoyed an outstanding sophomore campaign with 565 rushing yards and 7 TD on 111 carries. Only dynamic dual threat QB Shay Smith (UTEP signee) had more rushing yards than he did.
Ryan Estrada

, El Dorado: The Aztecs entered last season with plenty of optimism after Estrada’s 1,300+ yard freshman campaign in 2022. But injuries primarily limited El Dorado to one win. Still, Estrada was outstanding, rushing for 809 yards and 10 TD and averaging over 9 yards per attempt in just six games. He remains one of the most talented RBs in all of West Texas. The UTEP staff quickly re-offered Estrada when they took over in December.
Jake Fette

El Paso Del Valle | 2026
TX
, Del Valle: Few rising junior quarterbacks in West Texas are more dynamic than the 6-foot-2, 180-pound Fette. As a sophomore, he threw for 2,465 yards and 27 TD with just 5 interceptions, including 300+ yards five times. He also rushed for 346 yards, evidence of his mobility. Considering his size, athleticism and powerful throwing arm, it’s not surprising Baylor, SMU, TCU, Texas Tech and UTEP have already offered.
Santiago Gonzalez, El Paso High: If there’s a singular theme to this list, it’s that most of the players mentioned here contribute to their teams in multiple ways. Gonzalez is a good example. He catches the ball well (28 receptions for 441 yards and 5 TD) and returns kicks. Both Gonzalez and El Paso High look to get better after a 3-7 season in 2023.
Cam’ron Johnson, Americas: After finishing as Americas’ No. 3 rusher in 2023, Johnson is ready to take the reins as the top dog since the top two rushers were seniors. He had 612 yards rushing and 7 TD in just 6 games, and his average of 102.0 yards per game was by far the best on the Trail Blazers. He also caught 12 passes for 191 yards.
Antonio Montes, Socorro: The Bulldogs struggled from a win-loss perspective last season, but Montes enjoyed a solid sophomore season. Dividing time at quarterback with Trevante Thrasher, Montes threw for 884 yards and 6 TD in just 6 games. Most likely, Montes will see increased playing time in 2024.
Daveon Singleton, Chapin: The dynamic Singleton wasn’t just a highly productive dual threat QB for Chapin in 2023, he was a QUADRULE threat. He threw for nearly 500 yards and 3 TD, rushed for 700 yards and averaged 9.2 yards per carry and caught 22 passes for 320 yards and 6 TD. In addition, he served as one of Chapin’s main kick returners. In all, he amassed over 1,500 total yards. Texas Tech offered in January. UTEP (the new staff), SMU and Hawaii have also offered.
Junior Trotman, Eastlake: Trotman is another talented young player who contributes to his team in multiple ways. As a receiver, he caught 36 passes for 494 yards and 4 TD in addition to carrying the ball 14 times and returning kicks. Trotman’s number of touches should increase in 2024.
Ben Wilson, EP Coronado: The 6-foot-1 Wilson displayed his enormous potential in October when he completed 14-of-21 passes for 234 yards and 3 TD in a 28-24 upset victory over EP Americas. Wilson, in fact, was a key reason Coronado won its final four games to close out the season strong. He rushed for 100+ yards THREE times during the winning streak. Obviously, giving the ball to Wilson paid off for the Thunderbirds.
