DR7 Tulsa Tourney Athlete Standouts

We were able to check in on pool play Saturday and bracket play on Sunday. We saw a ton of Oklahoma talent on display and will have several spotlights throughout the next few days on Prep Redzone Oklahoma. In this article, we're putting the spotlight on four players who really played well on both sides of the ball. He played for Sooner 7's Alpha team and immediately made his presence felt on both sides of the ball. First off, offensively, we don't need to see his abilities on offense to you if you've seen him play. He is a terrific wide receiver and he made it look easy at times during pool play on Saturday. But Nickens wasn't done there. He turned around and played safety on defense and showcased that athleticism throughout the weekend. We've watched Fridrich a lot over the last 12 months at these 7v7 tournaments and he continues to look smarter and smarter while he's on the field. On defense, he always knows where he needs to be and also helps literally everyone else out on that side of the ball. On offense, Fridrich has also become a reliable option in the passing game for 918 Elite's 18U squad. Barnett, who's mostly been known for making plays as a wide receiver on offense was outstanding at the safety position in multiple games we watched on Saturday. Barnett used his speed to track the ball in the blink of an eye and when he got there, his leaping ability was off the charts as he separated the receiver from the ball. But on Sunday, Barnett came back and made plays at wide receiver. And once again, Jones stood out to us for his abilities on both sides of the ball. At the tournament two weeks ago, Jones was mostly on our radar for his play on the defensive side of the ball. This week, that play was still there and he was a game changer on the offensive side of the ball. Speaking on that specifically, Jones is just flat out electric with the football in his hands.
