DORCHESTER | The 2026 and 2027 Class took center stage Saturday afternoon at the Carolinas Coaches Combine at Woodland High School.
Roughly 150 participants showed up and showed out. The players used the first part of the afternoon session to record their measurables with the final portion of the combine being used to show the one-on-one skills and compete against the best South Carolina has to offer. We will have plenty more coverage from the Woodland event, but here is a list of award winners and what they did well.
MVP/Fastest 40/Best Broad Jump/Best Vertical: Hiszari Gantt Hiszari Gantt 5'9" | 140 lbs | WR Silver Bluff | 2026 State SC WR, Silver Bluff
If you would have told us Gantt drove most of the players to the combine, we wouldn’t have argued with you after witnessing his performance. The 5-foot-7, 130-pound shifty receiver easily walked away with MVP honors after posting the best 40-time (4.48), Best Broad Jump (117) and Best Vertical (30.7). He also had one of the better Pro Shuttle times on the day at 4.37. The rising junior could have easily won other awards as he showed off his skills in the pass catching portion of the event as well. He’s versatile and can do multiple things offensively and might even play some defensive back.
Leadership Award: Dontray Lewis OL, Whale Branch
Lewis was the first person in the offensive line drills and was quick to offer encouragement to those around him. He was just a shade under 6-foot-4, 262.4 pounds but he could move with the best of them. The rising junior wingspan was 81 inches, and he uses that to be a two-way player at Whale Branch. He took reps on both the offensive and defensive side of things once the things broke out into the one-on-one sessions.
Top Offensive Lineman: Kenshon Speaks Kenshon Speaks 6'3" | 295 lbs | OL Beaufort | 2026 State SC OL, Beaufort
The 6-foot-3, 264.8-pounder was impressive in one-on-one work. He kept a low center of gravity and used good hand strength to keep the defensive lineman in front of him. His 84-inch wingspan tied for the best on the afternoon, and he uses that to his advantage.
Top Defensive Lineman: JT King DL, Pinewood Prep
King showed that he belonged on the field with the players from the larger schools. He measured 6-foot, 242.2 pounds but was one of the fastest defensive linemen on site with his 5.05 40-time. He also ran the Pro Shuttle 4.69 seconds, and his Vertical Jump came in at an impressive 24 inches.
Top Offensive Combo: Nick Buggy TE, Lucy Beckham
Buggy is 6-foot-1, 206 pounds and showed good hands and quick moves going up against opposing linebackers. If he got a step, he was able to make plays and should be a huge weapon for the Bengals this coming fall.
Top Defensive Combo: Lavar Miller LB, Bamberg-Ehrhardt
The measurables were good all the way around for the 5-foot-10, 164-pounder. His 40-time was in the upper part of the day at 4.69 and he had a vertical of 27 and a broad jump of 107. He showed good hips in coverage and had a quick first step in pursuing tight ends and running backs in pass coverage.
Top Offensive Skill: Caden Ramsey Caden Ramsey 6'5" | 195 lbs | DB Cross | 2026 State SC WR, Cross
Just before the afternoon session ended, Ramsey probably had the catch of the day. He ran a fly pattern and used his 6-foot-4, 192-pound frame to go over the defender and haul in a spectacular catch that drew the ohhs and ahhs from everyone assembled. He had an 84-inch wingspan and ran a respectable 4.86 40. But he has something you can’t coach or teach – his size is a matchup problem for most defensive backs.
Top Defensive Skill/Fastest Pro Shuttle: Jaylen Singletary Jaylen Singletary 6'0" | 160 lbs | DB Hampton County | 2026 State SC DB, Hampton County
Singletary was a combine beast, posting solid numbers all across the board. The 5-foot-10, 160.8-pounder ran a 4.76 40 with 23.6 vertical, 98 broad jump and a session best 4.25 pro shuttle. He recorded 51 tackles last season with six interceptions and those skills showed as he covered well in the one-on-one skill drills.
Bench: Trevor Kalisz Trevor Kalisz 5'10" | 205 lbs | QB Ashley Ridge | 2026 State SC QB, Ashley Ridge
That’s not a misprint. The best bench presser on the day was Kalisz, a 5-foot-9, 205.2-pound quarterback from Ashley Ridge. He bench pressed 185 pounds an impressive 22 times. To put that in perspective, only two other played in the afternoon session reached 20 reps. Kalisz threw for 2,989 yards and 28 touchdowns but showed he might be one of the more powerful guys in the 2026 Class.
The following players earned a Blue Ticket, which is an invitation to the Joanne Langfitt Underclassmen Challenge that will be held in December as part of the Touchstone Energy North-South All-Star Game.
Henry Rivers Henry Rivers 5'11" | 160 lbs | QB Berkeley | 2027 State SC QB, Berkeley
Rivers started for the Stags as a freshman and is poised to be one of the top recruits in the 2027 Class. He showed a strong arm with great accuracy. He was invited to the combine last season but had to miss after suffering an injury in the playoffs.
Carnell Warren Carnell Warren 6'3" | 170 lbs | WR May River | 2026 State SC WR, Bluffton
Warren checked in at an impressive 6-foot-3, 203 pounds and definitely looks the part. He had 53 catches for 723 yards and nine touchdowns as a sophomore.
Malquan Pimentel LB, Fort Dorchester
Pimentel looked smooth in drills and was 5-foot-11, 189.2 pounds. His numbers were good across the board. but the 4.7 40 and 26.4 vertical might have been the most impressive.
Jaemin Pickney LB, Woodland
Pickney was performing on his home field, and it showed that he was comfortable on the turf field on unseasonably warm March temps. He was 6-foot-3, 187 pounds and moved well with good hips.
Zion Britt Zion Britt 6'1" | 295 lbs | OL Berkeley | 2026 SC OL, Berkeley
Britt was the top offensive lineman for the Stags as a sophomore. He played with good leverage in one-on-one battles and held his own in the combine drills.
Cody Peterson Cody Peterson 6'5" | 315 lbs | OL Ashley Ridge | 2026 SC OL, Ashley Ridge
Peterson was one of the biggest players there – 6-foot-4, 328 pounds. He benched 185 pounds 19 times and had other good measurables on the day.
