The Knights got some solid production out of their freshman group, including tight end Mason Cotton Mason Cotton 6’3″ | 205 lbs | TE Lincoln Southeast | 2027 NE . Mason ended the season as the freshman leader in receiving yards among tight ends, finishing the year with 192 yards and a touchdown on ten receptions. Mason does a great job at using his athleticism and 6’3″ 205-pound frame to out-physical defenders at the catch point. He’s also a tough player who can pick up yards after the catch, even when taking on contact. Mason and the 2027 group can be a special one for the Knights.
If pass catchers are involved, you know Bellevue West will be in the mix. Grant is a part of a very talented wide receiver group for the Thunderbirds. He attended the Stock Up Showcase in December, where he impressed with a very polished skillset for his age. Grant is quick with the footwork and displayed some crisp route running during drills. He’s disciplined about following the ball with his eyes while completing the catch and is quick to tuck and burst. Three more years in the Bellevue West offense should have Grant looking like a stud by his senior year!
Another team that has done a great job pumping out skill players is the Malcolm Clippers, and it looks like they have another with freshman Preston Kucera Preston Kucera WR Malcolm | 2027 NE . Preston had a solid showing in year 1 after racking up 151 yards and three touchdowns on only seven receptions. The most impressive part of his stat line is his 21.6 yards per reception. He has the speed to stretch defenses vertically and can exploit the soft spots in the defense to break free for big gains. With some graduations on offense, don’t be surprised if Preston takes off in year 2!
