Continue ReadingTennessee is one of the most horizontally linear states in the country, making The Grand Division of Tennessee the easiest way to break the state down into West, Central and East. While West Tennessee may be the smallest of the three sections, that doesn’t mean there isn’t football talent. With at least one county bordering Kentucky, Arkansas, Missouri, Mississippi and Alabama, West Tennessee is smack in the middle of SEC country. Here’s a look at some 2028 Wide Receiver prospects in West Tennessee to know.
Lexington Middle School’s Akeem Cox Akeem Cox 5’7″ | 125 lbs | WR Lexington Middle | 2028 TN is a dynamic playmaker itching to make his debut under those Friday night lights in the fall. Without question, the name of the game with Cox is quickness and speed. A very agile kid, he’s the type of player you do whatever you can to create space for. Whether it be pre-snap motion, running “pick plays”, crossing routes, rolling the quarterback out, etc.–anything to give Cox just a crease. Before all else, he could make his biggest initial impact in the kick or punt return game. On the smaller/thinner side right now, but hopefully the Lexington Minutemen’s reigning Athlete of the Year will pack on some needed-muscle this off-season.

Wide Receiver Charles Eaves Charles Eaves 6’1″ | 145 lbs | WR Henderson County South | 2028 TN is a kid that really intrigues me as a prospect getting ready to move up to the high school level this upcoming season. The Henderson County South student-athlete passes the eye test right away with long limbs, lean muscle and reliable hands. Also a basketball player, there’s a lot to like in terms of potential here. He doesn’t round off his routes when he gets into breaks, nor does he give away what he’s doing pre-snap. Also does a good job catching the ball away from his body, yet is strong enough to reel it in without a defender being able to punch it loose. From the naked eye, it looks like he needs to get faster with straight-line speed, but has a good deal of ability to work with.

Three Oaks Middle School in Dyer County is home to a talented group of 2028 prospects, headlined by wide receiver Jaiden Sebourn Jaiden Sebourn 6’2″ | 155 lbs | WR Three Oaks Middle | 2028 TN . Sebourn cleaned up this year in terms of post-season recognition, taking home the Team MVP, Wide Receiver of the Year and WTAC recognition. He’s listed anywhere between 6-foot and 6-foot-2, and 145 to 160 pounds, depending on where you look. Having a longer, leaner frame, he can stride out quick screens to the house or can stretch the field vertically. It should also be noted, that with his wingspan and ability to highpoint the ball, Sebourn is also the consummate red zone threat.

Staying in Dyer County, Northview Middle School’s Ja’khi Parr Ja’khi Parr 6’0″ | 140 lbs | WR Northview Middle | 2028 TN is also a name that people in West Tennessee should start to get familiar with. At 6-foot and 140 pounds, he’s another wide receiver with significant length and ability. Parr is a multi-sport athlete that knows how to use his natural athleticism to get up and get the ball. After finishing third in the high jump at the Tennessee Middle School Athletic Association State Championship Meet last spring as a seventh-grader, he put an exclamation point on his middle school football career by helping the Choctaws to a West Tennessee Small Conference regular season championship.
Shelby County, where Memphis is located, is one of the top counties in the state of Tennessee when it comes to football talent. Havenview Middle School, which feeds into Whitehaven High School, is one of the traditional powerhouse programs in West Tennessee. Paced by a number of standout eighth-graders like Christopher Jermaine Hood Jr. Christopher Jermaine Hood Jr. 6’0″ | 145 lbs | WR Havenview Middle | 2028 TN , the Tigers had another strong season reaching the MSCIAA Class AA Football Championship game. Hood Jr. is a taller, thinner wide out at 5-foot-10 and 135 pounds with some of the best body control I’ve seen in the Volunteer State. In a very deep WR group, he emerged as the go-to target on the offensive side of the ball for star quarterback, Curtis Shields III Curtis Shields III 6’1″ | 155 lbs | QB Whitehaven | 2028 TN .
