There were nearly 60 kids from AYF-sanctioned teams that were selected and showed up to the prestigious event. Here are the top Running backs that stood out to me from watching the three practices.
Standing at 5’8 and 165 pounds of muscle Brown stood out to me as one of the top running backs at AYF All stars this year. He looks like a natural running back who very versatile and can catch the ball out of the backfield. Very impressed with his ability to play in the slot and at RB very well. Overall looks to be a true all around back that can do more than just run the ball.
- Powerful runner with great strides for his size
- Quick breaks
- shifty
- Rb that can play slot and catches everything
Harris stood out to me because of his ability to gain yards after contact. One of the bigger backs at AYF the Ohio native has great footwork and looks like your prototypical running back for his age. Overall a very powerful runner with a bright future at the position.
- Big RB
- Fast with agility
- good footwork
- can break tackles
- powerful runner
Another bigger back that had a similar skill set to Harris. Hairston was another Ohio guy who was very powerful when running the ball and had great strides when seeing open field. Seeing him and Harris in the backfield at the same time was a scary sight. Overall a great running back with a good build that can breaks tackles and also has the speed to make a big run in open field.
- Big RB
- good vision
- Strong and powerful
gabe kWatson out of North Carolina is the total package at running back and is extremely talented. He has great size as well as speed to be a top running back in NC very soon. Also played very well at safety from what I watched. Overall total package at RB and can play other positions at a high level as well.
- Fast
- Athletic
- Lengthy
- great vision
- extremely strong
Highlights
Kemp is a guy I wrote as an initial standout for the East team and he really was a top back I watched all weekend. Definitely going to be one of the best backs in Jersey in the 2029 class. I was really impressed with his footwork and his ability to avoid defenders. Probably the shiftiest player I watched and is only gonna get better with one more year of youth football.
- Good size skinny but looks strong
- Great footwork
- Shifty with good vision and power
