In high school, the RB position is one of the most important positions on the field. Most high schools rely on their backs to do a lot of the heavy lifting offensively. In this piece, I'm going to break down 2 2025, 2 2026 and 2 2027 running back prospects that I have really taken a liking to and would suggest taking a look at for the next level.

Starting with the 2025 class we have a couple experienced Seniors that I have come away really impressed with after seeing them in person and on film.

[player_tooltip player_id='899538' first='Luke' last='Winkler'], Almont- Luke is an athletic RB that hits the hole hard, and can turn on the jets to pull away. He can also grind it out between the tackles for a few yards a carry and a could of dust when needed. He is durable, strong and makes teams account for him no matter how he lines up. Do not be shocked if he has some huge numbers in his final season as he showed last year he could be an absolute workhorse.

[player_tooltip player_id='603737' first='Donald' last='Adams'], Harper Woods- This kid had one of the best games of anyone on State Finals Weekend, tearing up the defense for 175 yards at almost 10 YPC. He is a do it all back where he can run between the tackles and be a bruiser, or bounce outside and get the edge against even the speediest of defenses. I was really impressed with his yardage after contact as he maintained a nice base and balanced himself quickly to continue his run. Whether it's just getting vertical or lateral, there weren't many that could do it like him.

Next up is the 2026 class. There are a lot of really good backs near the top that I could mention in this article, but this will be 2 guys I view as under the radar or maybe just flat out underrated.

[player_tooltip player_id='905876' first='Garlands' last='Randolph'], Midland Dow- I watched in awe of Randolph the entire event when he showed up to the Stock Up Showcase back in December. He runs incredibly hard. Like, Isaiah Pacheco hard. He runs angry, has fantastic body control, and has a really low center of gravity. He isn't going to be your receiving back that likes to get out in space and dance, but he is really good for running between the tackles and absolutely ripping through arm tackles and poor attempts. I'm looking for the next step of evolving from him going into 2024, but with the offseason grinding he has been doing, I have no doubt he will do just that.

[player_tooltip player_id='568050' first='Jakoby' last='Lagat'], Goodrich- This school has had a great pipeline of backs coming through in recent history. I truly believe Jakoby is the next one in that line. He is a gym rat who has shown an evolution worth raising some eyebrows at. He's extremely strong, and his craft as a running back is starting to come into picture. He has nice vision and he can find a different route if his hole closes up, and he hits it hard. They used him a lot at almost a fullback position at times, and he was able to get up between the tackles and get up field. He has also shown an ability to catch the ball as well which is a nice touch. Goodrich will be a solid team and I think he will be a big reason why.

Finally, the 2027 class is looking like a solid group with a bunch of really talented backs. I think these 2 are a couple up and comers that will be making a lot of noise on the recruiting trail one day.

[player_tooltip player_id='649723' first='Brady' last='Bullock'], De La Salle- This is another guy that tends to run really angry. He comes downhill fast, but is still patient enough for his play to develop, and then he's gone. He has a pretty good sized frame already, and he definitely uses that to his advantage by running through lazy tackle attempts. He can grind our yards behind his pads as well and definitely isn't scared of the contact. I have really liked what he has put on film so far. Hopefully he can get some varsity burn soon and prove me right!

[player_tooltip player_id='1067027' first='Max' last='Geer'], Traverse City West- Max is a bit of a project guy, but his film shows some fun flashes of brilliance. He hits holes aggressively, and can make some guys miss in the open field. He will need to work on his speed, but he absolutely has time to do that. I like his ability to break some tackles and get out in space as well. I trust the staff at TCW a lot and I think they could develop Max into a really interesting prospect in the coming years as long as he puts in the work!
