Recruiting: 2024 West Mesa QB talks flip to Lobos; 2025 updates

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>When 2024 West Mesa QB/ATH <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='275488' first='Elijah' last='Brody']</strong> first set foot on the New Mexico campus in Albuquerque this past weekend for an official visit, he was a verbal commitment to Eastern New Mexico.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>However, his conversations with the new Lobos coaching staff went so well that withing hours of wrapping up his visit he had flipped to New Mexico.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>One of the major topics of conversation between the parties was how the new UNM staff intended to utilize the ultra-athletic Brody. He played quarterback and defensive back for West Mesa this past season.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>When the UNM coaches told Brody that he could end up playing on either side of the ball, he was intrigued. In short, UNM isn't recruiting Brody for any specific position.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“The love the coaching staff showed me and all the ways they want to use my athleticism were definitely points of interest,” Brody told Prep Redzone New Mexico. “They talked mostly about what the program has to offer and how they plan to change the culture of UNM football.”</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>Brody said he was impressed with the attitude and mindset of the Lobos players as they went through winter workouts.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>“Just how much the team has bought into the new coaches in such a short span of time is really a testament to the work they are putting in down there,” Boyd said.</p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>In other recruiting news from Monday, 2025 La Cueva OLB <strong>[player_tooltip player_id='611083' first='Mason' last='Posa']</strong> was offered by Stanford (joining the ACC in 2024) and hosted Texas Tech head coach Joey McGuire at LCHS. Since the beginning of January, Posa has been offered by Texas A&amp;M, UTEP, Louisiana-Monrow and Stanford.
