Hayes is listed at 6'2 192 and has plenty of physical development left in the tank. With a few years in a college weight room, he could easily carry 225 on his frame. Hayes is incredibly difficult to bring down in space. He is a lankier prospect, but he does a fantastic job of slowing down his feet and can side-step would be tacklers. He is also explosive enough to quickly get up to speed and split defenders. He isn't afraid to redirect the play back across the field, and he is able to do so because he has good spatial awareness and is aware of blindside would-be tacklers. He has decent straight line speed and gradually builds up to his top speed thanks to his long stride. He battles through contact and flashes outstanding contact balance for his thin frame. He will often shed off several tacklers in a crowd and bounce the ball back outside to green grass. Wherever he lines up, he flashes good acceleration and has the speed to quickly climb the levels of the defense. At times, it looks like he might blast right by blocks and into traffic, but he tends to do a good job of settling down behind his blockers and getting his eyes up to track defenders. When things open up, he has the speed to beat angles and does a good job of redirecting to the most efficient run path to the endzone.
