After breaking down some high-level running backs in the house, it’s time to take a closer look at some of the top performers in the wide receiver position.
At the top of my list of notable performers is Maximus Curry Maximus Curry 5’9″ | 150 lbs | WR Blackman | 2028 TN , a wide receiver at Blackman Middle School. In addition to excellent footwork and breakaway speed, what impressed me about Curry was his versatile edge as well as his catching ability in coverage. After a commanding performance, it’s no surprise that Curry walked away from Murfreesboro as the wide receiver MVP.

I am additionally impressed with ShaMaurian Roller ShaMaurian Roller 6’2″ | 150 lbs | WR Hueytown | 2028 , a wide receiver at Hueytown Middle School. Roller stood out with his solid height and wingspan, proving to be a difficult playmaker to contain for defensive backs down the stretch during positional drills. Roller’s ability to dodge and weave his man also made a difference, showcasing his ability to create seperation in the backfield.
Claiming the number three spot on my list is Anderson Glover Anderson Glover 5’4″ | 115 lbs | WR Farragut | 2028 TN , a wide receiver at Farragut Middle School. What made Glover, the wide receiver MVP at last spring’s PRZ Next camp, so explosive was his outstanding footwork and ability to maneuver out of the backfield. He utilized bursts of speed to get in prime catching position during wide receiver positional drills. Another aspect of Glover’s play style that stood out was his ability to attack the ball in the air.

Another prospect to establish himself in Murfreesboro was Quinton Johnson Jr. Quinton Johnson Jr. 5’8″ | 135 lbs | WR AL , a wide receiver at Pleasant Grove Middle School. Johnson made a strong impression due to his overall explosiveness and consistent catching ability despite heavy coverage from the defensive backs. I also liked how Johnson could be shifty in the backfield and pick up speed to get in position for the long pass.

Coming in at number five on my list is Hank DeGennaro Hank DeGennaro 6’0″ | 170 lbs | ATH Brentwood | 2028 TN , an athlete at Brentwood Middle School. With great size and speed, DeGennaro was difficult to defeat in the backfield, using his breakaway speed and toughness to be durable in coverage as well as lock onto the deep pass. DeGennaro also impressed me with his ability to create seperation and be durable on the move in one-on-one drills.

Also making his presence known at the Southeast Camp was Kyle Sledge Jr. Kyle Sledge Jr. 6’0″ | 185 lbs | ATH Bowling Green | 2028 KY , an athlete at Bowling Green Middle School. On top of great athleticism and the ability to overpower his opponent down the stretch with his physical edge, I liked how Sledge could juke out the defense and get wide open for the deep pass. Sledge also stood out with his mechanics, utilizing his footwork to fly down the field.
