One of the premier leagues in the Upper Peninsula, The Big North houses Gaylord, Marquette, Escanaba, Alpena, Petoskey, Cadillac, and Sault Ste. Marie. I combed through every team’s Hudl, and I found six new players with high upside.
’25 WR | Kyler Sager | Marquette | Hudl
Height: 5’11 Weight: 160 (Hudl)
Kyler is the King of jump balls in the Upper Peninsula. Look at the tape- there’s several plays where he goes up and mosses a DB for an insanely impressive catch. There are a few other plays where he displays flashes of vision and open-field ability. However, he is generally a raw prospect. He did a lot of impressive things this past season with his mossing, but I’m looking for him to improve other aspects of his game before he earns a ranking.
’26 T | Pavel McCutcheon | Marquette | Hudl
Height:6’7″ Weight: 280 (Hudl)
First off, seeing 6’7″ 280 immediately is an eye-opener. With that size comes great potential. First off, I love this strength and aggression. There are several moments in his tape where he easily throws defenders off him. It’s apparent that he’s got that aggression that you need as an elite offensive lineman. His fundamentals need a lot of work. His pass sets especially need an overhaul, and I am not confident he’d do well against some of the better DE/EDGE talent in Michigan. Though, I can tell he has the potential to be a great offensive lineman.
’25 DB | Mason Fralick Mason Fralick 5'11" | 165 lbs | DB Petoskey | 2025 State MI | Petoskey | Hudl
Height: 5’11” Weight: 165 (Hudl)
I like Mason’s film quite a bit. Attending Petoskey, the fact of the matter is that a lot of teams they face don’t pass the ball a ton. There are a few highlights in Mason’s tape that shows legit lockdown coverage and good skills once the ball is thrown his way. Sure, the receivers he’s covering aren’t West Bloomfield’s, but he’s displayed an ability to stay on a man and break up passes. He’s also displayed some very good reaction time when it comes to stopping the run. He works hard to work around WR blocks, and isn’t afraid to tackle in the open field. I’ll be keeping an eye on Mason throughout the offseason, and my initial impression of him is that he could be a Division 3 prospect.
’25 OL | Bailey Wade | Cadillac | Hudl
Height: 6’4″ Weight: 280 (Hudl)
Bailey is a raw offensive line prospect from Cadillac. Playing both guard and tackle, Bailey shows a willingness to engage with his blocks and aggressively drive them back. He tends to lunge a lot and put himself off balance, but I’m happy that he’s mostly successful with his current play. His size gives me great optimism for his potential, and if he’s able to clean up the fundamentals then the sky’s the limit.
’25 ATH | Brian Boutiller | Escanaba | Hudl
Height: 5’10” Weight: 155 (Hudl)
Spending time at receiver, defensive back, and running back, Brian is a swiss army knife that does a lot for Escanaba. Overall I like his IQ and effort. On the defensive side of the ball, he earned a few interceptions by smartly jumping in front of a few balls. Offensively he’s flashed a wide catch radius with decent run after catch abilities and route running. If he can just improve his athleticism then he could turn into a great prospect.
’25 DE | Eric Eades | Alpena | Hudl
Height: 6’3″ Weight: 195 (Hudl)
Eric is a high-upside defensive lineman with some promising tape. On most of his highlights he’s the quickest off the ball and he has a signature swim move that gets him past a lot of blocks. Against Escanaba, he practically lived in their backfield from the number of times we swam past the O-Line. Like everyone on this list, Eric must clean up a few things. He sometimes gets way too high out of his stance and could be more explosive, and I’d love to see a wider array of block-shedding moves. His height is good, but I’d also love to see some more muscle. He is another high-upside player if he works his tail off this offseason to earn it.
