Among those are a select few that stand out enough to earn college opportunities and earn a ranking on our rankings. We have 36 QBs currently ranked in the 2024 class, and here I’ll be breaking down a few of the newcomers in the rankings.
Committed to Central Michigan, Logan is a big QB with amazing physical traits and good in-season play.
His highlights showcase a lot of good play-action with several great throws on the run / off-balance. Very importantly, Logan gets the ball out quick and connects with his receivers in stride. He doesn’t tend to sit in the pocket indecisively as many other QBs may do. He locks onto his read, and calmly delivers an accurate ball. Although his footwork and overall movement can be a bit more fluid, he throws a very pretty spiral and oftentimes has pretty stellar ball placement. Based on the limited film I’ve seen of him, I think there’s a good chance he finds success at CMU as long as he’s able to develop for a few years.
Drake is yet another Rockford QB that’s been able to come in and put up amazing stats. 65% passing with 2056 yards, and a 24/4 TD/INT ratio with a difficult schedule is impressive. In fact, the stats are better than last year’s QB Mac VandenHout, who is at Davenport now.
I don’t think Drake is a high-tier GLIAC prospect, but I am surprised more D3 schools aren’t taking a chance on him. He’s a good playmaker within this offense, attacks the middle of the field often, and generally finds guys to make plays. His overall accuracy, throw power, and timing could be improved, but there’s no doubt that he’s got the IQ be a good game manager that doesn’t make mistakes. If he puts in the same amount of effort he has in the past year than I think he’s a good Division 3 quarterback.
Harding is a phenomenal high school dual-threat quarterback who was able to consistently make plays with his athleticism.
He’s one of those guys that’s extremely hard to bring down, and a lot of good rushes by defensive linemen are negated by Harding’s ability to quickly evade pressure. Most of the time while evading pressure, he’ll try and find a running lane, or he’ll throw the ball downfield. There are other plays where he decides to roll out to either side of the field while still looking downfield, sometimes delivering an explosive play through the air. He’s also a state-champion high jumper at just 6’0″ in height, jumping 6’7″.
I’m not sure if QB is the position best suited for him if he wants to play at the next level, but considering his obvious athletic talent, I don’t see why a D3 school won’t pull the trigger and send out an offer.
Highlights
Caleb’s film is very fun to watch, as he’s stood out as a great pocket passer this season. His 6-min highlight reel shows a ton of impressive throws, many of them being well-placed deep shots and darts thrown into tight windows. From the highlights, I see a ton of solid pocket QB play that should earn the attention of Division 3 schools. I need to watch at least 1 full game to evaluate his overall consistency etc, but from the highlights, I like what I see.rnIf he’s able to show the same amount of accuracy at camps this offseason, he’ll earn some offers.
Jackson is a QB who really came on this season as he led Lowell beyond their preseason expectations.
Excelling in the option and quick pass game, he ran the offense at Lowell with confidence and consistency. He’s a hard runner, and is able to maneuver his way through tight spaces between the tackles. He also has a few good downfield throws and smart throws on the run. His stats indicate that he was immensely smart and efficient with the football, throwing for 68% and 10 touchdowns to 1 interception.
