The coaches run the drills and give productive coaching advice during the process. Always a highly anticipated position, the quarterbacks draw interest from any talent evaluator. After watching some film and reviewing testing results, I will cover the quarterbacks that I believe need to be on your radar
The Overall best in drills, at the QB position, Shaffar put his full athleticism on display and left talent evaluators impressed. Shaffar ran a 4.89 second 40-yard dash, 4.6 seconds in the shuttle, 7.06 in the L Drill and had a 9’5″ broad jump. He showed a ton of speed and cutting ability at 6’1″ that can translate at the next level. Watching film, Shaffar is decisive with the ball and has a quick release that makes it hard to apply pressure. If pressure comes, his mobility can easily get him out of the pocket where he does a great job of keeping his eyes downfield for opportunities. Shaffar and Westview will look to build momentum heading into his senior year. He started the offseason off with bang at this showcase and could make Northwest Omaha a travel destination for scouts.

Kracht also showed out during drills. Running a 4.9 40-yard dash, 4.72 shuttle and 7.5 L drill, Kracht showed a ton of mobility for a sophomore. He seemed mature for his age and the potential growth in skill, and physical attributes, made you excited about Gretna East’s future. Kracht is getting experience in a shotgun offense, with RPO being part of the gameplan. This plays into his strengths with his ability to move and keep defenses guessing. As Kracht continue to evolve his mechanics and arm strength, we could see the emergence of a new QB that needs attention in Gretna.

Another sophomore QB to keep an eye on, Matson’s athleticism and effort in the drills caught attention. From jumping over 8″8″ in the broad jump to showing some good speed, running a 4.97 40-yard dash and a 4.75 in the shuttle, Matson made the most of his day in the showcase. He displayed a strong and accurate throwing arm when working with the receivers. His strength is in his ability to be mobile and will need to continue to develop throwing the ball. Sitting another year behind Jeter Worthley Jeter Worthley 6’0″ | 175 lbs | QB Lincoln East | 2025 State NE will do Matson wonders and by his senior year, he will garner serious interest at the next level.
Traveling from Hinton, IA, Anderson did not disappoint in his showcase performance. He was agile running a 5.02 40-yard dash along with a 4.75 shuttle and 7.69 L drill, while standing at 6’3″ prototypical QB frame. On film, Anderson has deceptive speed that hits secondary’s quick once he gets to the second level. He has a toughness to his game, plays physical, not afraid of taking or delivering a hit. He has a strong arm with the ability to throw with accuracy on the move. Anderson is an athlete who relies on his pure given abilities to make plays. Anderson could turn into a star with the correct development at a strong college program.
Only a freshman, Frey impressed with his size and metrics in the drills. Running a 5.28 40-yard dash, 4.38 shuttle and 7.1 L Drill, while jumping 8’7.5″ in the broad jump, a lot of eyebrows were raised. 8-man football players can put up some gaudy, some may say misleading, statistics. Frey has a rare combination of size and athleticism that will easily persuade anyone that watches his film from putting him in that box. Frey is raw but showed good arm strength and solid mechanics. He has the ability to throw the ball with accuracy and makes good decisions on when to tuck the ball to run. Frey deserves to be on scouting lists to watch his development and what he can bring to the next level.
