Each player brought their all during the showcase, and highlighted their abilities. Now it’s time get into the meat and potatoes and dive into the analysis.
Jack Heath
Jack Heath
Starting off with the MVP of the O-Line group, Heath was on fire throughout the camp. He measures at 6’6″ 320 pounds and dominates on the offensive line. Heath has a good quickness coming out of his stance, whether it be a 2 point or 3 point stance. He has a low pad level and was using to out leverage the defensive line during the drills. At 6’6″ to achieve very good low pad level is amazing. Taller offensive linemen tend to struggle with getting a low pad level, however Heath was succeeding. He has good hand placement to control and steer the DL. Has great strength and can move as an offensive linemen. Excited to see what he does during the fall this next season.
Flynn Latta
Flynn Latta
Latta is only a freshmen, but still has a lot of potential and room to grow. He measures in at 6’0″, 250 pounds. Latta demonstrated good competitive toughness throughout the drills. If he would get beat, he would get back up and give it his all the next. Latta starts out with a low pad level, and has good quickness coming out of his stance. He demonstrates a low pad level to out leverage the defensive linemen and create holes. He demonstrates good hand placement. This allows him to control and steer the defender creating holes in the running game. His pull blocking stood out to me as well. He’s a great player who I’m excited to see more of in the upcoming seasons.
De’Vante Johnson
De’Vante Johnson
Johnson is another mauler at the showcase. He measured at 6’5″, 310 pounds and he can move! Johnson has the prototypical size you want out of an offensive linemen. Big bruiser with big legs to create a powerful anchor. Johnson is able to use his size to his advantage and out muscle the defenders. Johnson shown good competitive toughness. When he was beat he would come back and take over the next play. He has a very good quickness out of his stance. If it’s a 2 point stance or 3 point, it doesn’t affect his speed. Uses his good hand placement to control and steer defenders. With his good footspeed he’s able to keep up with the defensive line. Johnson demonstrated a good anchor and held his own against athletic and talented defensive linemen. Great performance, and I’m excited to see more of what he can do.
Landon Evans
Landon Evans
Landon killed it at the camp. Evans measured in at 6’2″ 250 pounds. He showcased multiple abilities that he will be able to take and hone to the next level. Evans demonstrated a good quickness out of his stance. He engaged the defender first, and utilized good low pad level to out leverage the defender. He has a good foot speed to keep up with the d-line. Using his solid hand placement, he’d control and steer the defensive linemen. He has a good anchor and would stand his ground against the bull rush. He has a good competitive toughness due to playing after the whistle, and if he’s beat he will keep fighting until the end of the play. Great performance, and I’m excited to see how he grows as a player.
Brycen Bailey
Brycen Bailey
Bailey had a great performance at the stock up showcase, and was able to put more eyes on his game. He measured at 6’0″ 250 pounds, and even though he wasn’t the biggest o-linemen at the camp, he made a big impact. Bailey has a good athletic ability. He has a very good quickness out of his stance, and uses his acceleration to reach the 2nd level. Good footspeed to keep up with defenders. Bailey uses a low pad level to out leverage the defender, and has good hand placement to control & steer. He has a high tenacity and it was shown by control a defender and steering him 180 degrees around. Looking forward to see more of his development next season.
Mason Bandhauer
Mason Bandhauer
Excellent performance by Bandhauer. He measures in at 6″5″ 265 pounds and can move. He has good athletic ability, and demonstrated it throughout the drills. He has very good footspeed, acceleration and was moving during the lateral drills. He has a good competitive toughness, since he would play after the whistle. Mason had a good low pad level, and could out leverage the defenders in front of him. Since he’s a taller offensive linemen, it’s tougher for them to get lower than the defenders due to his height. He showed good quickness out of his stance. Good hand placement to control and steer the defender. He killed it, and I’m excited to see how he grows as a offensive linemen.
