CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
3-0 All Time (4th Title Appearance)
Fairview is back in the state championship game to defend their championship from the 2022 season. Fairview is making their fourth appearance in the state championship game and the record is perfect. They are 3-0 all time when they are playing for the state championship. But before last season, the Yellowjackets hadn’t played for a state title since 1999. They beat Nowata for the gold ball that season but it’s clear that they are having a memorable run in program history right now. In 2019 and 2020, Fairview was a combined 5-16. But ever since the start of the 2021 season, Fairview is a combined 40-1.
OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION: 51.9 Points Per Game
It’s hard not to be impressed with Fairview’s offense this season. They are averaging just shy of 52 points per game and there aren’t many teams that average over 50 points per game in a season. The Yellowjackets have been tested a few times in the playoffs, scoring less than 30 points on two occasions. But despite that, they are still averaging over 50 points per game. Fairview has one of the best quarterbacks in the state, that has been lighting up defenses all season. And Fairview is going to come into Saturday’s championship game ready to go after putting up 56 points against Hooker in the regular season.
DEFENSIVE PRODUCTION: 11.9 Points Per Game
As good as the offense has been, the defense has been right there among the best in Class A and in the state in general. They are giving up just under 12 points per game coming into the state title clash with the Bulldogs. But one storyline will be the Fairview defense against the Hooker offense. Because while Fairview’s offense had no problems lighting up the scoreboard back in week four, the defense gave up a season-high 22 points to the Bulldog offense. And this is a Hooker offense that is getting better and better. But the Yellowjackets have been playing great defense, specifically in the semifinals when they gave up just six points to Woodland.

had a ton of experienced talent around him. He was a sophomore that helped lead his team to a state championship. But this season, Bernard has emerged as one of the best quarterbacks in the class. We mentioned how explosive Fairview has been on the offensive side of the ball, Bernard has been the trigger man of that offensive unit that has rarely been contained this season. Bernard has been slinging it all over the field but he’s also taken his game to new heights in the running game. Bernard and the Fairview offense are going to be fun to watch on Saturday.

CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY
0-0 All Time (1st Title Appearance)
While Fairview is looking to capture back to back championships and remain perfect in state title games, Hooker is making program history on Saturday afternoon. The Bulldogs are playing for the state championship for the first time in program history. They’ve never played for the gold ball but they’ve been knocking on the door over the last several seasons. They’ve had a few good runs where they’ve made it to the quarterfinals or even semifinals. They have the ability to kick the door down and win it all this season. And regardless if they win it on Saturday, get used to seeing Hooker as a top contender. They are incredibly young this season.
OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION: 39.6 Points Per Game
The Hooker offense is averaging just shy of 40 points per game coming into the state title clash with Fairview. The thing that is incredibly impressive to us about the Bulldogs on the offensive side of the ball is the balance they have between the pass and run game. And as we mentioned earlier, get used to seeing some of their top playmakers on the offensive side of the ball. The quarterback is a junior, their best two-way player is a sophomore and the running back is a freshman. This is a team that is excelling right now and they won’t be going anywhere, anytime soon and they’ll be ready for Saturday.
DEFENSIVE PRODUCTION: 15.7 Points Per Game
The Hooker defense has to be playing with some confidence coming into Saturday’s championship game. On the season, they’ve given up just shy of 16 points per game. And in the semifinal round against Hominy, they contained a very explosive Hominy offense to just 24 points. Now, the biggest task comes Saturday when they face that Fairview offense that averages over 50 points per game and scored 56 against Hooker back in week four. But that was nearly three months ago at this point. These are two very different teams and the Bulldogs are playing with plenty of confidence coming into this week.

was outstanding, specifically on the offensive side of the ball. But this season, it’s been very impressive to see Robinson take his game to a new level in terms of versatility. Robinson is still excellent on the offensive side of the ball, but Hooker has quite a few playmakers this season. Robinson is also a terrific defensive back and also a threat to return the ball in special teams. Robinson is a name to know moving forward out in western Oklahoma.
