While the athletes from New Jersey obviously come from the Garden State, New England was represented by athletes and/or teams from New Hampshire, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. In particular, there were some very impressive offensive line play from athletes out of Massachusetts and New Jersey. Here’s a look at 20 Hog Molly’s from the class of 2028 that impressed.
– One of the biggest kids down there, with a nickname like Bear, you can imagine it was hard to spot him
– A South Jersey native, Bear played an intricate role on the Philadelphia-based 215 Extreme 13U team
– Needs to be inside right now at a Guard position to cover up some of issues with foot work
– He’s a big dude that could probably drop a couple pounds to improve mobility, but still a borderline elite big-on-big run blocker
– Crazy to say, but Roth looked even more physically impressive at AYF Nationals than he did in September at All-Star tryouts
– While I still feel that Roth ultimately ends up on the defensive side of the ball long term, he was possibly the best Guard I saw
– The New Jersey 14U All-Star team featured a tough ground attack and Roth was a big reason for it up front
– There wasn’t a block he couldn’t make; Whether down-blocking on big interior guys, climbing the ladder to cut off linebackers, or even walling off in space–Roth was up to it
– Easily the biggest prospect down at AYF Nationals, regardless of age group or division
– Played Right Tackle for the Springfield Tigers, helping them to a third place finish in their bracket
– Overwhelming size with good grasp on basic stance and skills. Must get quicker, more flexible and improve overall athleticism. Struggled with speed rushers, who took wide angles
– When he was able to get in front of pass rushers, he won most reps. With some work, he’ll be a good one
– Playing on the opposite side of Jesse Roth Jesse Roth 6’0″ | 205 lbs | DL NJ , Buchanan had a great week at Right Guard for the New Jersey 14U All-Stars
– Built like a D Battery, he was a strong and sturdy option on the interior offensive line
– Originally thought he’d shine as a defensive tackle because of his strong base and build, but the same traits aided him on the offensive side
– One of several members of last year’s 12U All-Star team, Buchanan and the crew ended youth ball with another AYF National Title
– No stranger to Prep Redzone Next camp series or writeup’s on the site, Travis Bowen Travis Bowen 6’0″ | 275 lbs | OL New E had a had a very good week at AYF Nationals
– A rock at the guard position, he was part of a very good right side of the offensive line for the Central Mass 13U All-Stars
– Comes with average height and some good thickness, but looked significantly stronger and more powerful than in previous times I’ve seen him play
– After an eighth-grade season where he didn’t allow a single sack, if he can tack on a few more inches, there should be a decent level of college football in his future
Highlights
– Every year the New Hampshire All-Star team surprises me, with a couple dudes that look like they could compete with other top kids in the country
– The 13U New Hampshire All-Stars had a handful of good-looking prospects this year, like Nashua’s Kaden Phillis Kaden Phillis OL New E at Center
– Phillis showed off a really strong build and looked the most varsity-ready out of all the NH All-Stars
– Moved as quick, or quicker, than some of the running backs they had in the backfield. Very active player
– If AYF Nationals was my last opportunity to see Rajgopaul play in person as a pre-high school prospect, he ended it on a spectacular note
– “Big Mark” has been a stalwart on the offensive line for Brick City during their run, anchoring the right side of the line as a tackle
– In Brick City’s first game, a loss to the NC Giants, he suffered a nasty turned ankle but battled through to compete in the rest of the tournament
– My lasting impression of the big man, was his great footwork on both sides of the ball. I used to think of him as only an offensive lineman, not anymore…
– As previously mentioned, the right side of the offensive line for the Central Mass 13U All-Stars was impressive
– While Bowen held it down on the inside at Guard, Rylan Suzor Rylan Suzor 5’11” | 265 lbs | OL New E lined up next to time at Tackle and also stood out
– By my eyes, looked like a carbon copy of Bowen in terms. Bowen was more athletic, but Suzor was a little thicker
– Suzor is thick and strong. Long term I see him moving to an interior spot on the offensive line, or strictly playing defensive tackle
– At the September All-Star tryouts for the New Jersey 14U team, Williams caught my eye because of his size and potential–after watching his play at AYF Nationals, it’s safe to say he’s on his way there
– Looked like a much more comfortable, confident player in the three months since I saw him play live. Significant improvement across the board
– Lined up at Right Tackle for the New Jersey 14U All-Star team. On more than one occasion, blocked down and collapsed the entire defensive line
– Has some extra weight right now, but has a frame that looks like it could easily transform with some hard work in the off-season
