– For the second year in a row, Gilliece was a standout on the Bayside All-Star team at AYF Nationals. Was a big kid last year on the 12U All-Star team, but got even bigger and longer this year for the 13U team
– He does a very good job of using his length and keeping his outside shoulder free. He does an equally good job of playing the run or rushing the quarterback
– I was on the fence about whether he was an offensive tackle or a defensive end last year, but after watching him this year–he’s a defensive lineman through and through. Once he starts to add on some weight, he could be a really nice 3-4 defensive end
– One of the prospects that really opened my eyes, getting to see in person rather than on film
– With all the other things weighing on his mind (click the link, I promise it’s worth it) it’s incredible to see how he well he played with all things considered
– Anchondo played tough, angry, aggressive and with an attitude throughout the week. After meeting his dad, I don’t think he’s anywhere done close to growing either. He’s a prospect I’m buying stock in right now
– If I’m starting an offensive line out of the 2028 prospects I saw at AYF Nationals, I’d be hard-pressed to not start with Hergott
– Smart, hard-working, tough and leadership skills through the roof. As the starting center on the 13U Las Vegas All-Stars, he was literally a coach on the field
– In addition to being an elite run-blocker on the gridiron, he’s also a gifted baseball player. So much so, that the Nevada-native will be off to famed St. John Bosco in California for high school
Highlights
– Another kid that I would take on my offensive line unit in a heartbeat, if I was starting a team from scratch out of the talent at AYF Nationals
– Was also a standout defensive linemen too. On both sides of the ball his raw skill set shined through; quick and violent hands, elite first step and a high motor made the difference for him
– My biggest takeaway of Gammel playing, was his leadership that flew under the radar. During pre-game warmup snaps, star QB Luke Rubley would tell him where his shotgun snaps would come in. If they were even the slightest bit high, low or off-center, he would fix it immediately. Loved watching it
– Without question, he was the first prospect I noticed on this 14U team. In fact, I actually noticed him two days prior when the team walked by for practice
– Pure muscle; Absolute pure muscle for a kid that’s not even in high school yet. Looks the part of a future big time prospect
– Played both offensive tackle and defensive tackle for the Boca Braves. A team that was a relatively unknown to me, before this tournament
