This article will cover four of my biggest standouts from this game, including three Lumen Christi players and one amazing Menominee performance.
ATH | KaDale Williams | Lumen Christi | Hudl
STATS: 27 carries, 276yds, 3TDs, 10.2YPC
There’s a reason why KaDale is ranked so high. His stats alone are enough to impress, but it’s the way he did it that stands out. Against a swarming defense, KaDale broke dozens of tackles, kept his balance, and I’m not kidding when I say he probably had over 100 yards after contact. The only other player who I can say has better contact balance than KaDale is Kellen Russell-Dixon Kellen Russell-Dixon 5'10" | 185 lbs | RB Grand Rapids Catholic Central | 2024 State MI from GR Catholic Central. Williams’s ability to absorb hits, keep his feet moving, and make cuts in the open field is elite. I think he could be a bit more explosive, fluid, and faster. I see on his athletic.net profile that he ran a 12.4 100M in the spring. It’s by no means a bad time, but if he was in the mid 11’s he’d be looking at Division 1 offers.
DB | Lundon Hampton Lundon Hampton 6'1" | 170 lbs | ATH Lumen Christi | 2027 State MI | Lumen Christi | Hudl
STATS: 6 tackles, 2TFL, 1 Sack
Lundon is a highly-touted freshman already with offers from CMU and SVSU. Early in the game he made a few tackles, a TFL and a pass breakup. It was immediately apparent that he’s a special talent athletically, and his athleticism alone does him so much good on the field. I know that he has experience playing offense and returning kicks, but for now he plays the majority of snaps as a DB. Defensively he plays with a ton of aggression, acting as a heat-seeking missile to any ball carrier.
He made some good tackles, but he overcommits pretty often. He’s able to negate the overcommitment a lot of the time with his long arms, able to grab and pull dudes down. Though, there were a few plays where he legitimately overran the ball carrier. It’s a pretty minor gripe especially for a freshman. I’m also happy it’s an aggressive mistake he’s making rather than passive. I have no doubt that with time he’ll improve the little things while getting a bigger workload on defense and special teams. Lastly, Lundon was rock-solid in pass coverage. I have no doubt he’ll live up to his D1 expectations.
OL | Aiden Pastoriza Aiden Pastoriza 6'7" | 255 lbs | OL Lumen Christi | 2024 State MI | Lumen Christi | Hudl
STATS: He’s a mauler
This goes for most of the Lumen offensive line. Aiden and the crew wore the Menominee defensive line down quite a bit. They won at the line of scrimmage, and paved the way for over 300 yards rushing. Aiden in particular is considered to be the leader of this group, and it’s obvious why he’s a Cincinatti commit.
QB | Trevor Theuerkauf Trevor Theuerkauf 5'10" | 165 lbs | ATH Menominee | 2024 State MI | Menominee | Hudl
STATS: 9-22, 199yds, 2TDs, 84rushyds, 1TD, 17 tackles, 2 pass breakups
Trevor played one of the grittiest games I’ve ever seen from a quarterback. He’s a completely unknown name as an upper peninsula QB, but he made his name known today. The passing stats aren’t going to blow you away, but his relentless effort in extending plays and giving his receivers a chance to make a play was amazing. There were a few late drives where #11 would constantly evade pressure, extend the play, and either tuck and run or throw it up for a clutch play. Trevor’s performance reminded me a ton of Carson Vis’s performance yesterday for South Christian. I haven’t even talked about his defensive performance, where he was flying to the football and put up 17 tackles. An absolutely stellar and passionate performance from the Menominee QB. Although Trevor’s team came up short, he has a ton to be proud of.
