Top Passing Performances
Pulling off another rabbit-out-the-hat in a close playoff victory home against Mount Olive, the state’s most prolific passer was back to doing what he does best. In the 24-19 victory, Deprima was 21 of 27 for 262 yards and 3 scores, while not throwing an interception.
Despite leading the state in passing yardage this weekend, Londergan’s efforts came up just short as Seton Hall prep fell on the road to Delbarton by a score of 38-23. Londergan was a stellar 17 for 29 with 310 yards with a touchdown pass and interception a piece. Londergan got it done with his legs too, rushing 14 times for 62 yards and a score.
Top Rushing Performances
Heading into the weekend Sander’s was a running back prospect I expected greatly impact the outcome of the game. Although he did not lead the state in rushing, he was amongst the state leader’s in yards per carry with 13.4. In all, Sanders’ helped propel Bergen Catholic to a 42-12 victory over Donovan Catholic as he rushed for 188 yards and 3 scores on 14 carries. He also made 2 tackles.
Trafford might have needed an ice bath after this one. In the 38-23 victory over Seton Hall Prep, Delbarton’s lead back ran for 220 yards and 4 touchdowns. Those 220 yards did not come cheap and easy as he earned every one, rushing a season-high 37 times.
As the reigning Group V champs look to repeat, the reigning Gatorade State Player of the Year looks to do everything within his power to do so. Ford rushed 26 times for 222 yards and 1 score, while also passing for 93 yards and another score on 5 of 9 attempts in Toms River North’s 33-6 road victory over Cherokee. Ford also finished with 9 tackles with 1 tackle for loss.
Top Receiving Performances
Leading the state this week in both receptions and yardage was Julius Vicari Julius Vicari 5’11” | 180 lbs | WR Seton Hall | 2024 NJ . Laying it all out on the field in what is likely his final high school game, Vicari slashed 11/249/1 in a game were Seton Hall Prep came short, 38-23, to Delbarton.
In a game where quarterback Landon Deprima Landon Deprima 6’2″ | 180 lbs | ATH Ramapo | 2024 NJ ‘s favorite target Zachary Schnorrbush did not record a statistic, Deprima found another senior to pick up the slack and pay immediate dividends. Fellow 2024 graduate Brandon Del Valle Brandon Del Valle 5’10” | 185 lbs | WR Ramapo | 2024 NJ caught 8 balls for 101 yards in the 24-19 victory over Mount Olive. A tough defender as well, Del Valle made 10 stops in the victory.
Prodigy or freshman phenom? Whatever you call him, remember the name: Xavier Sabb Xavier Sabb 6’1″ | 180 lbs | ATH Glassboro | 2027 State NJ . Glassboro’s dynamic 2027 graduate has made his impact felt in each and every round. Most recently on the road at Woodstown, Sabb went for 88 yards and a score on 5 grabs. On special teams Sabb scored again as he returned a punt to the house – totaling 2 reutrns for 86 yards. Sabb also made 3 stops on defense.
Top Kicking Performances
Kramer was swinging his leg free and easy in Delbarton’s 38-23 victory over Seton Hall Prep. In all, Kramer had a perfect day going 5 of 5 on PATs and sinking his only field goal attempt from 23 yards away.
Highlights
Another perfect day from a team’s kicker led to smooth sailing for the Mariner’s kicker, as Toms River North defeated Cherokee on the road 33-6. In this one the team’s kicker, Papanikolas, had a perfect day going 4 of 4 on PATs and delivering on his only field goal attempt of the day from 33 yards out.
UPenn might be impressed, as Wingfield backed up his most recent offer from the Ivy League school by having a well-rounded performance against Mount Olive, a 24-19 victory. Starting as a kicker, Wingfield was 3 of 3 on his PATs and was 1 of 3 on field goal attempts – nailing a 33-yarder. Defensively Wingfield made 7 stops while he hauled in 5 receptions for 65 yards and 1 touchdown.
