Northwest Catholic High | class of 2026 | student- Athlete | 5’10 160 lbsrnMalachi Hymes
The sophomore was named a top performer this season duirng early September. Caught my attention after his first two games of the season, by totaling 273 all purpose yards on offesne. His play on offense shows very good athletic coordination. A glimsp of his season film, indicates he could also pan out as a DB at the next level. Has good run supoort instincts and will deliver a strike through the ball carrier or wrap low and roll the ball carrier to the ground. Has good ball hawking abilities. Good field awareness. His athletic numbers posted on Hudl profile have his speed for 40 YARD DASH = 4.5, and 100 METER DASH = 10.83 which will likley need to be verified at a verified camp./showcase. His physical measurbales (height & weight align with Div 1 Low FCS/High D2/High NAIA defensive backs and running backs.

The rising freshman brought light to his name this season. His name rose to my attention after his top performance during week of 10/20/23. The freshman quarterback in a varsity game threw two touchdowns and ran for two more in the first half of his game. A quick peek of his film shows a young dual threat or pro style qb ahead of his age in confidence and command presence. Has a proficient ability to throw to receivers open and execute the back shoulder throw. Lower body has good footwork and balance. Makes throws with good velocity and ball placement. Executes RPO well and can make plays with his feet or arm. Good pocket awareness to get rid of the ball before being sacked. He ended the season with 13 passing touchdowns, 10 rushing touchdowns, and totaled 781 passing yards and 662 rushing yards. His physical measurables (height & weight), align with Low Div -1 FCS/High D-2/High NAIA quarterbacks.

Strong pocket awareness with mobility. Excellent athletic ability to run the football. High amount of intangibles like toughness and grit. His physical measurables (height & weight) align with High D-2 /Low D-2/NAIA and all D-3 quarterbacks.

Just prior to the season, I was informed about this young man from a high school assistant coach who asked to keep an eye on him. I saw him play in a live setting during week of October 13, 2023 and his play easily caught my eye.
During week of October 30, 2023 game action and in the first half, the sophomore had 114 yards and two touchdowns on 12 carries. He also returned a blocked punt for a touchdown. A view of his season highlight film, confirmed consistent play through out the season on both sides of the ball whiole being postioned as a LB and RB. I see him as a possible third down RB at the next level who can get the short-tough yards needed. Delivers a nice lean with power when finishing runs. Has a nice compact frame with low center of gravity. He is patient in following blocks and making the cut away from 1st level defenders to get extra yards. Protects the ball well in traffic. His physical measurables (height & weight), align with Low D-2/NAIA/All D-3 running backs.
