To continue my ‘Kentucky Stock Up Performers’ series, here’s my list of some highly explosive prospects that established themselves as top tier playmakers.
rnAt the top of my list of notable performers is Jaxon Strautman Jaxon Strautman 6’0″ | 190 lbs | QB Frederick Douglass | 2026 State KY , a quarterback at Frederick Douglass High School. Strautman and the Broncos earned a close 21-20 win over Male this past week. Strautman impresses me with his quick execution off the snap, showing off his quick release under pressure as well as his precision in the air. Strautman also stands out with his electric speed, showcasing his ability to maneuver the field and hit his receivers in stride in the redzone.

Highlights
rnI am additionally impressed with JayQuan Crawford JayQuan Crawford 6’0″ | 200 lbs | RB Franklin County | 2026 State KY , a running back at Franklin County High School. Crawford and the Flyers are coming off a 37-29 victory over Bardstown last week. Crawford makes a huge impact with his size, explosiveness in the pocket and durable edge. Crawford can easily find openings to slip past the defense into the backfield. I also like how Crawford utilizes his speed to breakaway from defenders and take it all the way to the house.

rnClaiming the number three spot on my list is Sam Clements Sam Clements 5’10” | DB Lexington Catholic | 2024 State KY , a defensive back at Lexington Catholic High School. Clements and the Knights came away with a 43-7 blowout win over Rockcastle County this past week. Clements stands out due to his defensive awareness, ability to read the offense like a book and his ability to quickly adapt to make important stops. I also like how Clements can immediately apply pressure on the quarterback, collect sacks and disrupt passing with his quick execution.

rnAnother skilled prospect to watch for is Ashby Spacek Ashby Spacek 6’0″ | 260 lbs | OL Mayfield | 2025 State KY , an offensive lineman at Mayfield High School. Spacek and the Cardinals collected a 58-36 rout of Lexington Christian Academy last week. What impresses me most about Spacek is his outstanding size and ability to exert his strength quickly and efficiently off the snap. Spacek also catches my attention with his ability to push off the defense and protect his quarterback, countering pressure from the Eagles’ defense with his physical edge and quick reaction.

rnComing in at number five on my list is Jimmy Mooney Jimmy Mooney 5’11” | 225 lbs | LB Paducah Tilghman | 2025 KY , a linebacker at Paducah Tilghman High School. Mooney and the Blue Tornado are coming off a 42-0 shutout win over Spencer County last week. Mooney has established himself as a major defensive playmaker due to his ability to suffocate the rush in the pocket, read the offense and catch playmakers with his speed. Mooney also stands out with his ability to catch the rush from along the edge, proving his quickness and ability to protect the backfield.

rnAlso worth mentioning is Zane Johnson, a quarterback at Trinity High School. Johnson and the Shamrocks earned a 45-0 blowout win over McCracken County last week. Johnson has proven to be impactful at the helm of Trinity’s offense due to his quick release and ability to target his receivers down the stretch for touchdown passes. I also like how Johnson can throw completions along the edge, showing off his ability to overwhelm the defense with the short pass and consistently put his team in the endzone.
