The importance of first impressions is something that has been preached for years and with the arrival of the 2027 watchlist, I couldn’t agree more. In this series, I will be introducing you all to some of the new names from the ’27 watchlist.
Make yourself familiar with these names because I am positive we will be hearing more from them in the upcoming years.
Check out the entire 185-player 2027 watchlist HERE
RB/DL Adrick Teichmeier Adrick Teichmeier 6’1″ | 190 lbs | RB Kearney | 2027 NE looks like the headliner in a great crop of Kearney freshmen. At 6’1″ and 190 pounds, Adrick already displays great size for a next-level back with the intensity and motor to match. When watching Adrick’s tape, I noticed how well he sees the field and his ability to follow blocks/find creases in the defense. Adrick is a versatile runner who can pound away at defenses between the tackles or he can bounce the ball to the outside with a nice burst and acceleration to rip off long gains. Uses effective cuts to evade defenders. Very physical player who is going to make you fight for every tackle— uses stiff arms, drops pads, etc. The Bearcats look set at RB for the next few seasons with Adrick toting the rock.
Adrick is already signed up for the Prep Redzone Stock Up showcase, so I am looking forward to seeing how he performs there.
Freshman Matt Erickson Matt Erickson 6’7″ | 265 lbs | OL Millard West | 2027 NE looks set to be the next great OL to come out of the Millard West pipeline. Already towering over a majority of his peers at 6’7″ and 265 pounds, Matt definitely looks the part of a next-level prospect. I don’t have a ton of tape on Erickson, but from the clip below, it’s clear to see the upside. He’s a physical player who can use his size and strength to overwhelm defenders at the line of scrimmage. Matt is also a great finisher, always looking to end his blocks in the dirt. Erickson also had some impressive plays on defense showing his ability to blow up his gaps and make splash plays in the backfield. Matt’s potential has already started to garner attention from college programs and has already attended a Husker gameday.
Omaha Central’s Tory Pittman III Tory Pittman III 6’0″ | 180 lbs | ATH Omaha Central | 2027 NE came into his freshman season already generating some buzz after receiving an offer from the Huskers as an eighth grader. With the buzz came big expectations and Tory more than delivered. Pittman is a great two-way player who saw the majority of his production come from the defensive side of the ball, however, don’t be surprised if you see him also receive interest as a receiver. Pittman ended his frosh season second on the team in total tackles with 34 and also added 2 interceptions, a TFL, and a sack. His range is limitless from the safety position with elite speed to close on the ball from nearly anywhere. One thing that I like about Tory’s game is his toughness. Even as a freshman battling some great pass-catchers in Nebraska’s biggest class, Tory did not back down and would often match the receiver’s physicality. He doesn’t hesitate to step up into the box to help out against the run. Get ready to hear more about Tory Pittman III Tory Pittman III 6’0″ | 180 lbs | ATH Omaha Central | 2027 NE !
It almost seems like there is a never-ending supply of great receivers over at North Bend Central. Freshman Khori Faulker began to make a name for himself as a budding star. Khori found himself on the Tiger’s varsity squad and carved a nice role for himself, ending with 10 receptions for 141 yards and three receptions. Faulkner also did a stellar job at safety, racking up 34 tackles, 2 interceptions, and a fumble recovery. Faulkner doesn’t have a huge receiving sample to go off of, but he does flash several great traits. He runs clean routes with good footwork and has enough explosiveness to create separation at the top of his route. Faulkner had some very impressive plays where he picked up massive gains from WR screens, showing his playmaking ability when you can give him the ball with space. Defensively, I like Khori’s fluidity and quick instincts in coverage. He does a great job reading and diagnosing the play, with a quick break on the ball. Great range— can cover a good chunk of the field. Faulkner also plays the ball very well and knows when to get his hands up for a pass breakup or to try and snag it himself. High upside player to keep an eye on!
Talk about a guy who passes the “right off the bus” test with ease. Grand Island LB Ryan Boehle Ryan Boehle 6’2″ | 190 lbs | LB Grand Island | 2027 NE is a player who should emerge as one of the top prospects out of the Tri-Cities in the upcoming years. Boehle looks like a throwback linebacker who plays with a tough, physical mindset. One thing that popped out right away was Ryan’s football IQ. It seemed like Ryan was constantly communicating on defense and calling out what he saw from the offense. He has a quick trigger when he keys on the run and is tireless in his pursuit. Ryan also had some nice plays in coverage, displaying quick instincts and fluid hips to get in position to make a play. Boehle flows to the ball very well and can disengage from blocks with his strength and violent hands. Very good, secure tackler. Ryan is another player gaining interest from college programs with a recent gameday visit to Nebraska. Keep close eyes on this guy!
