Micah Balder ATH, Williamsburg Academy – Balder is just a sophomore but showed his importance on the state runner-up. He filled in at quarterback at times and threw for 403 yards in limited action. He also rushed for 331 yards and six touchdowns. He also added three receptions for 51 yards. On defense, he finished with 33 tackles and five interceptions.
Rylin Brunson WR/DB, Patrick Henry Academy – The Patriots were senior-laden at the skill positions, but Brunson is a player that could have a breakout season next year. The sophomore caught a TD pass in the 35-28 win over Lee Academy. He came into the game with 14 catches for 140 yards and 114 yards rushing. He also finished with 35 tackles and an interception on defense.
Jeremiah Burson RB/LB, Laurence Manning – The junior came into championship weekend with 98 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, nine sacks, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. He also plays some running back and wide receiver for the Swampcats. He is right a 6-foot, 210 pounds and goes to sideline to sideline very well. He also doesn’t mind taking on bigger offensive linemen to attack straight ahead as well.
Jadyn Grant OL/DL, Bethesda Academy – Grant moves well despite his 5-foot-11, 370-poind frame. And he plays both ways on the line of scrimmage so his endurance can’t be questioned. The 2026 prospect will likely get taller and if he can drop just a little bit of weight, he can be an impactful player for the next two seasons. He blocks well offensively and can get penetration while playing on the defensive line.
Jaiden Haltiwanger DB/WR, Hammond – The sophomore was likely the best cover corner for Hammond this season. He finished with 10 pass break ups and two interceptions to go along with 35 tackles. He’s a bigger corner at 6-foot-2, 180 pounds but stays in good position to make plays and isn’t afraid to lower his shoulder for the big hit.
Immanuel Johnson RB, Hammond – Johnson (pictured) finished with 1,288 yards and 11 rushing touchdowns for the state champion Skyhawks. The junior has a chance to be a 2,000-yard back next season. Hammond will have to replace a lot up front offensively but Johnson along with TE Mike Tyler Mike Tyler 6'4" | 220 lbs | TE Hammond | 2025 State SC will be counted on to carry the skill position guys next season.
Trace June OL/DE, Lee Academy – June starts at left guard on offense and defensive end on the 3-man defensive front. He came into the weekend with 69 tackles, five sacks and two tackles for loss. The 2025 prospect has a high motor and flips back and forth rather easily while playing nearly every snap.
Reid McCollum ATH, Hilton Head Chrisitan – The sophomore made his mark on defense this season with 69 tackles, nine sacks and four interceptions but he will likely see more time on the offensive side of the ball next season. He saw action in 12 games at QB as the backup and threw for 246 yards and he ran for 36 more while totaling six touchdowns.
Raleigh Wesley WR/CB, Bethesda Academy – Wesley showed his electricity on his 29-yard TD reception. He caught the ball near the line of scrimmage and just used his speed to beat the defense to the corner before tight-roping the sideline for the score. He finished with 50 tackles and seven interceptions defensively. He caught eight passes this season for 207 yards and could see all those numbers increase next season.
Walker Wilson DT, Wilson Hall – The sophomore was able to create some mismatches up front and plays with great leverage. He had 31 tackles and a sack coming into the state championship. He will likely get bigger and stronger before next season.
