is already looking the part over at Berkeley. Rivers was lights-out through the air on Friday, going 22-of-35 for a cool 330 yards and four touchdowns. He was also effective in the run game, totaling 76 yards and two more scores on 10 carries. He was in total control on Friday night and has quickly picked up the offense to near-flawless form. Rivers will be one to watch with terrific poise under center at a very young age.
On the road against a stingy May River defense, Amor Scott came up huge for the James Island Trojans. Aided by an excellent performance from his offensive line, Scott ran for 87 yards and three touchdowns on 11 carries to power the Trojan ground game. He was lightning-quick to find the holes and kept the legs moving to accelerate and make defenders miss downfield. He’s one of several potent weapons in the backfield alongside teammate James Maxwell who should do some damage as region play continues.

Charles Byrd
Charles Byrd
It was another terrific night for Lucy Beckham’s offense, and reliable sparkplug Charles Byrd led the way. Byrd was excellent with a heavy workload, rushing for 142 yards and a score on 28 carries while adding a pair of receptions for 42 yards. He’s an agile runner with the power to break tackles and stay on his feet while also showing the hands to produce in the receiving game. He’s a versatile star for the Bengals offense that shows no signs of slowing down in Region VII-4A play.
Hank Aeppli
Hank Aeppli
An underrated standout for Lucy Beckham’s defense, Hank Aeppli dominated against a high-octane Bluffton attack on Friday. The linebacker was everywhere to shut down the Bobcats, making nine solo tackles including four tackles for loss, a sack, and a forced fumble. He’s got terrific instincts off the snap and is relentless to escape blocks and make monstrous plays in the backfield. Aeppli should be a tough task to contain moving forward in Region VII-4A play.
A talented receiver with lethal quickness, Kayden Bash Kayden Bash 5’11” | 150 lbs | WR Berkeley | 2025 State SC showed out on Friday night to race past Wando. Bash was the favorite target of Henry Rivers Henry Rivers 5’11” | 160 lbs | QB Berkeley | 2027 State SC , making six receptions for 147 yards and a score. He’s an explosive wideout who can gain quick separation and free himself for big chunks of yardage after the catch. He’s got the makings of a beautiful connection with Rivers that will be a challenge to defend this year and next.
The beat goes on for Hampton County running back Zion Dobson, who added on to his terrific season with another 100+ yard game on Friday. His improved poise and breakaway speed were evident again at home, rushing for 148 yards and two scores on 13 carries while also securing two receptions for 27 yards. His efficiency is off the charts, averaging 10.8 yards per carry with a rare level of explosiveness when the ball’s in his hands. He’s got a tough test on Friday in a key Class 2A showdown against Woodland that should decide the Region VI-2A title.
Highlights
In a key matchup in Region VII-5A, Derrick Salley was no match for West Ashley’s strong defense on Friday night. The Ashley Ridge wideout made a strong statement once again, going for four touchdowns in a 31-20 victory. His exceptional route running and athleticism were on display again, dominating his one-on-one matchups all night. With a terrific catch radius and reach at 6-foot-4, Salley is elusive and can make defenders miss on his way to explosive gains. He’s becoming an all-around star out wide for an Ashley Ridge team looking to surprise in the postseason this fall.
