Just last week Jackson McCarter had set a school record for rushing yards, so what did he do this week you might ask? Answer he toppled his own school record with 348 rushing yards and 5 touchdowns! You have got to be kidding me with this performance, week in and week out McCarter is shattering his own records, he cannot be stopped. What makes this more worthy of a game ball is the opponent he did this too. Gainesville had come into this contest undefeated and quite frankly not really tested either, Patriot sure did humble them behind McCarter’s historic night.

Highlights
Imagine being a James Madison fan right now, every week you are bound to get highlight reel plays while also raising up your blood pressure at the same time. Again Madison found themselves down late to a underrated Westfield squad and again the Warhawks had a thrilling last minute victory. Quarterback Cael Yates Cael Yates 5’9″ | 160 lbs | QB James Madison | 2025 State VA hit older brother Cord with a 40 yard touchdown pass with under a minute to play keeping Madison undefeated. If you get a chance watch the play, Cord Yates Cord Yates 5’9″ | 160 lbs | WR James Madison | 2024 State VA takes a simple out pattern and makes several Bulldogs defenders miss for the score, it is a can’t miss play. The senior wideout is another staple to a squad that hopes to no just be in the state title picture this year, but to bring him the gold.

Watching this game up close, I firmly believe Head Coach John Robinette when he said the Bruins believe they are going to be playing in the playoffs. Forest Park looked like the real deal in their dismantling of cross-town rival Woodbridge and junior running back Landon Hunt Landon Hunt 5’10” | 210 lbs | RB Forest Park | 2025 State VA is a big reason why. About midway through the first quarter, Hunt eclipsed the 1,000 yard rushing mark on the season, but that is not why he is getting a game ball. As many know the Bruins are a power run first offense who may throw 5 times per contest, they also have one of the biggest offensive lines in the region. The reason he is getting a game ball is because he is a team first player, not once when I interviewed post game did he want to give himself any credit. I mean he easily could of, he had over 100 yards rushing and 1 score in their victory over the Vikings, but instead he wanted to give credit to his big man up front. Players like Landon Hunt Landon Hunt 5’10” | 210 lbs | RB Forest Park | 2025 State VA are the type of young man you can build a championship squad with, and believe me Forest Park has those aspirations.
Four total touchdowns in Brentsville road win over Warren County I think qualifies Nico Orlando for a game ball. Orlando passed the Tigers with three rushing touchdowns and 1 receiving, while once again leading the way in rushing yards with 150. The Senior running back is leading the charge for the Tigers come playoff time, he is a nice combination with all-state quarterback Caleb Alexander Caleb Alexander 5’11” | 170 lbs | QB Brentsville District | 2024 State VA . Orlando should surpass over 1,000 yards rushing on the season this week, but that is not on his mind, him and his Brentsville teammates have bigger aspirations.

Once again Freedom had their way with their opponent, this time it was Colgan’s turn as the Eagles had this one over by halftime. The usual suspects did their thing, but for our game ball we are going with Indiana Hoosier commit Kam Courtney, who had two punt return scores by halftime. We profiled Courtney’s rise and recruitment earlier this year and since committing to Coach Tom Allen’s squad back this summer he has not missed a beat. He electrified the Freedom crowd Friday night with his two touchdowns, proving that all stops for the Class 6 state title go through the Eagles.
