Freeport vs Syosset
Freeport is looking to pull off the upset victory and avoid having a 1-4 record. They are led by one of the most dynamic players on Long Island within D’angelo Gordon D’angelo Gordon 5'11" | 160 lbs | ATH Freeport | 2024 State NY . They take on a great Syosset team led by Mustafa Mozawalla Mustafa Mozawalla 6'0" | 150 lbs | QB Syosset | 2024 State NY . The Braves only have 1 loss and they have turned into a serious county title contender this season.
The all around athlete will once again be the “go to guy” for Freeport during this uphill battle against a very good Syosset team. Despite the Red Devils losing the last two games, Gordon has still shown out. He surpassed 150 yards in both of those contests and found the end zone multiple times. Last year he was strictly at quarterback but this season Freeport has utilized him all over the field. You’ll see him at running back, wide receiver and even potentially take snaps at QB once again. You can expect him to get a lot of carries and if he’s able to get to the second level it’s scary. He is one of the most exciting runners in the open field, his speed and moves to get past defenders are both very effective. Gordon is also a hard hitter at defensive back. Syosset loves to pass the ball, and Gordon will be relied on to anchor this secondary to get some stops in a game where the defense has to play well.

Despite the rain on Saturday, I think we’ll see Syosset still throw the ball a good amount. The Braves have a strong offensive line which will lead to a lot of running and I still think Mozwalla will make a huge impact on both the ground and through the air. Mozwalla has one of the strongest arms on Long Island. His natural arm talent has allowed him to sling the ball all over the field, completing some very impressive deep throws. His mobility has also increased a ton. He moves well in the pocket and also has become a serious threat when running the football. He had a long rushing touchdown to put Syosset ahead of the defending champs Farmingdale earlier in the season. You will see him run the football a lot against a Freeport defense that has given up big plays this year.
Sayville vs Westhampton Beach
The defending Long Island champs Sayville have been rolling. They are led by a star studded cast and in this game all around athlete Mikey Sands will be someone to watch. They take on a great Westhampton team with a special senior class. Jordyn Brown Jordyn Brown 6'3" | 220 lbs | TE Westhampton Beach | 2024 State NY will be asked to do a lot for the Hurricanes in this one. The tight end/defensive end has been a monster this season
One of the most versatile players in Suffolk County, and Sands will be leaned on to perform well in this big matchup. Sands is one of the best linebackers on Long Island but he has also done a great job at tight end and has played great at right tackle. Despite only being 190 pounds, Sands has that “dog mentality” wherever he plays on the field. The 2025 prospect has tremendous speed and toughness and he has displayed that at linebacker. He has been effective at outside linebacker and has shown quickness to get off the edge and make a play on the quarterback. But what Sands has done best has been his ability to stop the run. And in a game where the Hurricanes will need to have success on the ground, they’ll have to get through Sands who has been one of the very best. On offense, he’ll be counted on to provide holes for Kyle Messina Kyle Messina 6’0″ | 185 lbs | RB Sayville | 2025 State NY as Sayville will pound the rock.

In a game where the rain is supposed to be heavy and both teams have great running backs, we will see a lot of ground and pound football. And that means stud tight end Jordyn Brown Jordyn Brown 6’3″ | 220 lbs | TE Westhampton Beach | 2024 State NY will play a key part in getting down and dirty and making the little plays. Now he’ll still be a threat in the short passing game, Brown will be a very important blocker. He has made his presence felt dominating the line of scrimmage this year. He’s more than a vertical threat, and he’ll have to do a great job blocking to kickstart this WHB run game. Brown has also made an impact at defensive end this year. And at 6’3 he has been incredible at leaping up and batting down short passes. He has been a drive disrupter this season and he’ll be counted on to get in a lot of tackles as the Hurricanes look to slow down this loaded Sayville offense

Commack vs Walt Whitman
In a game that has huge playoff implications in Suffolk Division 1 and also two of the best players in the county. Jeremy Weiss Jeremy Weiss 6'4" | 195 lbs | QB Commack | 2024 State NY has been one of the best pocket passing quarterbacks in all of New York. He faces off against Xavier Ali Xavier Ali 6'3" | 240 lbs | DL Walt-Whitman | 2025 State NY and a Whitman defense that has found their rhythm. Ali is currently one of the top 2025 DL prospects in the state.
The “prototype” QB on Long Island when you think about college size at 6’3 and 200 pounds. Weiss has gotten off to a fantastic start to his senior year. The pocket passer has excelled against good competition and he is one of those QB’s that instantly makes everyone else around him better. Weiss is always in control, he has good poise and has made terrific decisions so far this season. The touch on his throws have been incredible so far. He’s displayed amazing accuracy and has fit balls into very tight windows. He’s proved earlie rin the season that he could throw the ball in the rain without an issue, so it’ll be something to watch in this weather. Commack’s passing attack will certainly have to be effective after what Walt Whitman did as a run defense last week. Weiss can make throws all over the field and he’ll need to have a good day tossing the rock for Commack.
Ali was hyped up to be one of the best lineman in Suffolk County and he certainly has made plays like one of the islands best players. In a war against a very talented Sachem North team last week, Ali was dominant against a great offensive line. He registered 10 tackles and a sack, as they held Sachem North to just 7 points in the big win. Ali’s quickness continues to be a huge issue for offensive lineman. He uses his hands well and has been blown by lineman. But it’s not just getting to the quarterback, Ali has come up big as a run stopper. The added strength and weight from the offseason is very evident and when Ali makes tackles, he hits with a serious purpose. He’s one of the top overall prospects in Suffolk County and will be an important piece for Whitman’s success
