Horizon is 5-2 and rolling, while being fresh off a huge 41-24 win over Notre Dame Prep Many across the state didn’t think Horizon was going to be this successful this far in, but they have shocked the state and looked like a clear top 5 team in 5A. Hats off to coach Litten and his squad for putting the pieces together and developing a top team in the state. Those two losses come against some really tough opponents which includes a 27-7 loss vs Pinnacle and a close 24-22 loss vs Desert Mountain just a few weeks ago. Bodie Zamorano Bodie Zamorano 5'11" | 185 lbs | RB Horizon | 2026 State AZ has been a major factor in that Horizon rushing attack, putting himself on the map here in 2023 while being that key offensive standout thus far as he approaches the 1,000 yard mark. Jase Ashley Jase Ashley 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Horizon | 2025 State AZ is another kid who has sparked onto the scene and looks like a natural at QB, possessing that dual threat ability and looks to be a sure game changer. This game has shootout potential written all over it, as Higley enters 6-1 and have proven to be one of the most explosive offenses in the state in any conference. Last week, they hung up 60 on a tough Notre Dame Prep squad on their 60-42 win. The QB position hasn’t been the slightest problem for Higley. They recently got transfer Luke Haugo Luke Haugo 6'5" | 210 lbs | QB Higley | 2025 State AZ rolling where he has 527 yards and 10 TD’s in two games, and had a big spark with Gunner Fagrell Gunner Fagrell 6'1" | 160 lbs | QB Higley | 2026 State AZ throwing for 1,069 yards and 12 TD’s in his 6 game span. Their only loss was on a tight 38-32 game against Desert Edge, and could very well meet them again in the playoffs. As if two QB’s who can score on command aren’t enough, Daxen Hall adds more fuel to that fire as one of the most explosive, dynamic players in the state that is a threat to take anything to the house. A game loaded with talent will be a must see this Friday, and it’ll be interesting to see how it plays out and if they’ll meet again somewhere in the playoffs.
