Anthony Vega
Vega led Basic to a 5A Division II Southern league title with his best performance of the season in the 49-32 win over Foothill, totaling 282 passing yards and 6 total TDs (3 pass, 3 rush). He was accurate and on-time with in-breaking routes and looked decisive with his option reads as a runner. Vega’s played well in his first full season as a starter leading Basic to a 7-2 record (5-1 league) with nearly 1,700 yards and 22 TDs as a passer and another 8 TDs on the ground. With the win, Basic secured a first-round bye and home-field advantage heading into the playoffs.
Jackson capped off the regular season with his most productive outing yet, totaling 330 rushing yards and 4 TDs on 29 carries. He was particularly effective between the tackles using his vision and patience at the LOS to break explosive plays between narrow lanes. Douglas’ senior RB averaged nearly 200 ypg amassing over 1,800 rushing yards and 27 TDs on the season. Douglas earned a bye in the 5A D-III playoffs and will host the winner of Carson and North Valleys on 11/3.
