HILLSBORO
Junior QB Preston Brown Preston Brown 6'2" | 200 lbs | QB Hillsboro | 2025 State MO (6’2″ 190) didn’t have his usual good game through the air like he has all year, that has led to him throwing for over 1,300 yards and 19 touchdowns this season, but Preston gave it his all leading the offense, and ripped off a couple of very impressive runs, including a nice touchdown run, and finished with 73 yards against a stingy Ritter defense. It’s easy to see how he has rushed for over 600 yards and 7 touchdowns on the year. Brown, while a dual threat, still displayed a strong, accurate arm, but experienced some drops by his receivers. He is among the very talented 2025 group of quarterbacks in the state.
Hawks senior running back Payton Brown Payton Brown 6'1" | 215 lbs | LB Hillsboro | 2024 State MO (6’1″205) powered his way to 108 yards and two touchdowns on 19 carries. Payton has good speed and strength. He hits the hole quickly and lowers the boom on defenders, keeps his legs churning an makes yards after contact or can move the pile. Ritter had to gang tackle Brown, who is tough to bring down with a single defender. He also has the speed to be a homerun threat in the open field. It’s no wonder he is a D1 prospect who colleges covet.
CARDINAL RITTER
Ritter’s junior QB Carson Boyd Carson Boyd 5'11" | 185 lbs | QB Cardinal Ritter | 2025 State MO (6’0″ 185) continued his impressive season with an 11 of 13 completion day for 203 yards and 3 touchdowns showing his great vision, accuracy and ball placement on his passes to make it easier on his receivers and tough on defenders to make a play on the ball. The big-time 2025 recruit showcased his skills while splitting time with his fellow D1 quarterback recruit. Carson is smooth and plays at a different speed then most high school quarterbacks. He plays with a sense of urgency, but doesn’t rush throws, sees plays develop and makes it look easy when it’s not.
Antown McKay (6’2″ 185), who is committed to Western Illinois, also impresses me every time I watch him play as I see continued improvement and something I hadn’t seen before. Antwon showed great leadership skills to go with his very passing skills and accuracy in completing 7 of 10 attempts for 199 yards and 2 touchdowns. He is also a threat to run the ball and added 45 yards on 5 carries. You can see his experience and maturity in his decision making and plays.
Junior WR Dejerrian Miller Dejerrian Miller 6'4" | 190 lbs | WR Cardinal Ritter | 2025 State MO (6’3″ 190) had another great day catching the ball using his combination of size and speed to beat defenders and make big plays for scores. DJ caught 5 passes for 125 yards and 3 touchdowns as he glided down the field past defenders and found his way to the end zone using his speed and soft hands to haul in passes. Miller is a big target who runs nice routes and has good body control and concentration. He also lays out for passes. Miller is another of the future D1 players currently on the Lions team.
A name to remember for the future is sophomore WR De’Shaun Stevenson De’Shaun Stevenson 5'10" | 155 lbs | WR Cardinal Ritter | 2026 State MO ( 5’11” 160) is also a quick and speedy receiver who complements Miller well in the passing game. De’Shaun had 6 catches for 135 yards and a touchdown in the Lions victory. He’s been a big part of their success catching 21 passes for 572 yards yards and 3 touchdowns on the season while averaging over 27 yards per catch. Stevenson helps keep defenses honest and gives the two D1 quarterbacks another potential homerun threat to target.
