This week on Prep Redzone Oklahoma, we’re putting a spotlight on some of the top 2027 prospects in the state. This is the freshmen class we’re talking about so needless to say, it’s still incredibly early in their high school career. On Monday, we released our initial 2027 watchlist. The first prospect rankings for this class will come out in January. Throughout the week, we’ll be breaking down different position groups and overall standouts in the state’s 2027 class so far. In this post, we’re putting the spotlight on the line of scrimmage with the offensive and defensive linemen. These four prospects have already caught our attention in one way or another. Keep it locked in throughout the week for more breakdowns on 2027 prospects. And check back every Monday in October for more prospect ranking updates!
The first of two Owasso Rams on this breakdown is DaWayne Jones DaWayne Jones 6’1″ | DL Owasso | 2027 State OK along the defensive line. From the first game of the season, it was apparent that Jones was going to be an impact player on the varsity level. In the season-opening game against Bixby, Jones was one of the bright spots in a night that did not go well for the team overall. Jones did a good job in his first ever varsity game and we put even more weight on that performance considering the opponent and Bixby’s offensive line is one of the better units in the state. Yet, Jones was still able to make plays. The Rams have quite a few younger prospects in the 2027 and 2026 class that are making plays on Friday nights. And Jones is just scratching the surface on what he can be.
We go from one Owasso Ram to another but switch to the other side of the ball with Elien Reagan Elien Reagan 6’1″ | 280 lbs | OL Owasso | 2027 OK along the offensive line. While Jones has been able to get into the lineup and make plays on Friday nights, Reagan is going to have to wait his turn. Owasso has multiple offensive linemen that have D1 offers and that line is a solid unit. But Reagan is still a name to keep in mind moving forward. He was absolutely dominant at our PRZ-Next camp back in April and honestly, he could have taken home MVP honors for either side of the ball. But he really impressed as an offensive lineman during the 1 on 1 portion of the camp We’ll be interested to see his continued development because he’s already one of the strongest in his class.
Edmond Santa Fe freshman Elijah Tucker Elijah Tucker 5’8″ | 210 lbs | DL Edmond Santa Fe | 2027 OK is another example of a 2027 prospect that is waiting for his turn to make an impact on the varsity level. You look at Santa Fe’s defensive line and they have some serious talent in the older classes. Tucker should be an impact player in the future but until then, he has been tearing it up on the freshman and JV levels. Tucker also stood out to us back in the spring at our PRZ-Next camp as he took home MVP honors for his position group. We saw him again at another camp in the summer and he was once again one of the top performers there. Tucker already has a good bag of moves and it’s only a matter of time before he’s a name to look out for on Friday nights.
Highlights
We’ve mentioned this before in a previous article but when we got a chance to see Lincoln Christian in person this season, head coach Jerry Ricke mentioned how excited he was about some of his younger players that were starting. One of those prospects was defensive lineman Rain Ragland Rain Ragland 6’1″ | DL Lincoln Christian | 2027 State OK and he has had a solid start to his freshman season. Ragland is one of the team’s top tacklers so far and when district play began, his production got a spike. Over the last 10-15 years, Lincoln Christian has primarily been known for their explosive offenses. But over the last year or so, the defense has elevated their game. Ragland is part of a very bright future for this Lincoln Christian defense moving forward as they jump up to 4A in 2024.
