This week on Prep Redzone Oklahoma, we’re continuing our ranking update with a spotlight on some of the top 2025 prospects in the state. On Monday, we released our updated 2025 rankings. Throughout this week, we’ll be breaking down different position groups and overall standouts in the state’s 2025 class. In this post, we’re putting the spotlight on five prospects that were unranked back in June and have jumped into the rankings this time around. Keep it locked in throughout the week for more breakdowns on 2025 prospects. And check back next Monday for our final prospect ranking update when we look at the 2024 class!
Sand Springs has a legitimate two-headed monster at running back this season. Turning them into that this fall has been junior standout Ali McCoy Ali McCoy 5’9″ | RB Sand Springs | 2025 State OK and he’s in the middle of a breakout season for the Sandites. McCoy saw plenty of playing time last season as a sophomore but he’s elevated his game to new heights this season and it was obvious from the first game of the year. In a week zero win over rival Sapulpa, McCoy would run for nearly 150 yards and three touchdowns. This came a week after impressing us in a scrimmage at Jenks. McCoy is definitely a name you need to know moving forward.
Deer Creek’s Mason Smith Mason Smith 6’3″ | WR Deer Creek | 2025 State OK is the first of two wide receivers in the OKC area on this breakdown. And Smith is also a good example of how imperfect the ranking system is and how guys slip through the cracks. We saw Smith light it up back in the spring at a team camp and did not get him into the last update. That’s on us. But this fall, Smith has continued that momentum from a strong offseason and has had a really good junior season. He’s become one of Adamson’s top targets in the passing game and the Antlers are once again contenders in 6A-2. We expect to see more of Smith as we look ahead to the playoffs.
After years of running the flexbone option offense, Yukon has moved to more of a pass-first prostyle offense and junior wide receiver Lucas Jones Lucas Jones 6’2″ | WR Yukon | 2025 State OK has enjoyed a breakout season with the Millers throwing it all over the yard. Jones has become one of the top wide receivers in Class 6A-1 and he’s played some of his best football in the last three weeks. He’s had 29 catches for nearly 500 yards and five touchdowns in their last three games alone. We knew that Yukon would be improved on the offensive side of the ball but even we didn’t expect this kind of production already. Jones will be a name to watch moving forward.
Year after year, Bristow finds a way to contend in their district and that’s the case again this season. Leading the way has been junior Darien Dansby Darien Dansby 5’11” | 195 lbs | RB Bristow | 2025 State OK at the running back position and on the defensive side of the ball. In some of Bristow’s biggest wins this season, it’s been Dansby that has shined brightest with the football in his hands. They are coming off a tough loss to Cascia Hall and have another critical district match-up this week against Holland Hall. Bristow is no stranger to the playoffs and they are no stranger to having dominant running backs. And it looks like they have another one with Dansby toting the rock.
McLoud standout Shaun Hill Shaun Hill 6’1″ | 185 lbs | ATH McLoud | 2025 State OK is a prospect we covered back in the offseason during our “Friday Film Review” series. Hill was a sophomore at Tecumseh last year and he was a gamechanger wherever he lined up on the field. This season, it appears that Hill is lining up primarily at the wide receiver position. And while he’s listed here as an athlete, don’t be surprised to see that changed to wide receiver with the more film he puts out there. Hill is really good with the ball in his hands. He runs good routes and he comes back to get the ball when necessary. Hill is definitely someone to watch moving forward and McLoud has a few notable prospects.
