We aren’t even half way through the month of September and there are a number of 2028 prospects out of the state of Washington that have already separated themselves from the pack. The initial Prep Redzone Next Washington 2028 Watchlist is live and will be updated three more times before August 2024.
The more I watch film of Cook, the more I’m thinking I should have him listed as an Athlete and in the Washington 2028 Athlete Breakdown . However, for the purpose of this writeup I’ll him a defensive back–and he’s a real good one. At 6-foot-1 and 160 pounds he’s a bad dude to run into as a safety. With size and 11.62 speed in 100M, he covers a ton of ground and there aren’t may receivers in the PNW that are gonna beat him deep. He’s one of the most elite players on a talented Lake Stevens Senior Gold team. Kid should make a lot of noise in the future.
Going by the nickname “The Terminator”, Perez is a kid I think has the ability to be a solid player for years to come in the PNW. While most of his film features him as a running back, I think his long term future will be as in the secondary as a strong safety or nickel. He has a promising build at 5-foot-9 and 140 pounds (size is not verified) and also has good quickness and ball skills. He’s wrapping up his youth career with the B12P Bearcats this season.
Highlights
Brim is a good receiver for the CD Panthers on the offensive side of the ball, but I like him as a cornerback going forward. Like several other products of the CD Panther program on the Washington 2028 Watchlist, Brim is a smaller prospect. However, his agility while changing directions, in addition to his ball skills, makes him him a really good-looking corner back prospect. He has the foot-speed and loose hips necessary to mirror wide receiver’s.
Spending time with the multiple programs during his prep career, Hodge is yet another prospect that plays multiple positions–but cornerback is where I see him long term. With a nickname like, “The Blanket”, the fact that he can completely cover an opposing wide receiver should come as no surprise. He spent considerable time last year as a safety, but lack of height may force him to move out on the perimeter. Time will tell here.
