The first game recap for the season is here. Below you will see a brief breakdown from players or plays in certain games over the week of 08/31. These games took place in the Section V league of upstate New York.

08/31: Victor vs Rush Henrietta

It was quite the beat down as Victor High School hosted Rush Henrietta High School for the season opener which was the Teddi Bowl in support of Camp Good Days. Victor walked away with the win with a final score of 41-14. Some of the key players in the game included [player_tooltip player_id='527844' first='Nasir' last='Patton'], [player_tooltip player_id='521435' first='Adam' last='Ruffalo'], [player_tooltip player_id='451493' first='Nick' last='Leonard'], and Drevariis Yeomas who had three rushing touchdowns on the day! Yeomas was able to show off his speed and ability to get outside the tackles for one of his rushing TDs. Ruffalo again, was able to show off his tremendous athletic ability, even diving at the end zone with two Rush Henrietta defenders nipping at his heels. One of those Rush Henrietta defenders that was going at Ruffalo all game, was [player_tooltip player_id='527844' first='Nasir' last='Patton']. What was fun to see was Patton was able to put a few moves on Ruffalo when he was on the offensive side of the ball. It was a great battle between Ruffalo and Patton who both are very talented players. When it came to [player_tooltip player_id='451493' first='Nick' last='Leonard'], he was able to make an impact on both sides of the football. The one play that stood out to me the most was when Leonard was able to run over a defender to keep the chains moving.

08/31: Brighton vs Wilson Magnet

Also on Thursday night, Brighton High School was able to put on a show with a 40-13 win over Wilson Magnet. As stated in my season previews, [player_tooltip player_id='527732' first='Gavin' last='Parks'] will and was one of the major contributors for Brighton in their season opener. Parks ended the game with 2 touchdowns on 13 rushes for 128 yards. #13 has already gotten off to a fast start this season and will be expected to continue that success. One of the other major contributors was Brighton's Quarterback [player_tooltip player_id='307380' first='Tyler' last='Martinovich']. Tyler was able to make an excellent throw on the run to his receiver for 6. Martinovich ended the day with 2 touchdowns of his own. Being able to make lanes for Parks and giving Martinovich time to find his receivers was [player_tooltip player_id='726143' first='Val' last='Kondratenko']. Kondratenko was also able to contribute to stuffing the run and getting after the QB on the defensive side. The blocks in both the passing and running game; including a lot of times when Val was able to swing out into space to create a lane for Parks was outstanding to see. Below you will see the highlight tape that Kondratenko did upload on his Hudl.

09/01: Canandaigua vs Spencerport

What a Friday night it was for Canandaigua Academy as they took on Spencerport High School. Canandaigua had quite the game as they held Spencerport to only 3 points the entire game. Additionally, Canandaigua scored 27 of their own points lead by QB [player_tooltip player_id='527734' first='Drew' last='Williamee']. Big throws were made by Williamee as he hit WR Sean Olvany deep down the sideline for a huge gain and made a perfect fade throw to Olvany for 6 in the left corner of the end zone. Additionally, RB/WR Jude York was able to put on many moves and showed tremendous hustle all night to set up big blocks for his teammates down the field. On one play, York ran a great out route coming out of the slot and made two Spencerport defenders miss as he trotted into the end zone. On the bright side for Spencerport, RB [player_tooltip player_id='527876' first='Jahyleen' last='Quick'] was able to have a very productive game on the ground. Quick was able to squeeze through many holes and break multiple tackles for large gains. Continuing to be the bell cow for Spencerport will be a huge point of emphasis for Quick.

09/01 Fairport vs Penfield

A close battle here with Fairport High School and Penfield High School on Friday night. Fairport walked out of Penfield with the win in a 21 to 17 showing. There were a lot of big plays made on both teams. For Fairport, [player_tooltip player_id='257415' first='Jackson' last='Rucker'] and [player_tooltip player_id='451504' first='Sam' last='Pucci'] put on quite the show. Rucker was able to throw for 2 touchdowns and around 225 yards. One of those touchdown throws was in the back corner of the end zone where Pucci made a diving catch on a deep out and up route. Pucci ran a variety routes all night including slants where he was able to show off the YAC ability that he has. For Penfield, a young player that was able to have a consistent night and make some good tackles was [player_tooltip player_id='1283874' first='Anthony' last='Fallon']. Fallon was fighting through his blocks and making clean tackles on the Fairport ball carriers all night. Horton outran multiple defenders on his way into the end zone. The other two big-time contributors to Webster-Schroeder were [player_tooltip player_id='505385' first='Tyler' last='Washington'] and [player_tooltip player_id='521439' first='Justin' last='Maier']. Starting with Washington, he was able to show off his physicality with multiple stiff arms thrown at Brockport defenders. Tyler also made a huge 51-yard catch dragging two defenders to the ground and Washington had an 11-yard TD grab later in the game. For Maier, he worked the slot majority of the night making huge receptions in the short and intermediate parts of the field. Justin even ran a go-route out of the slot where he was wide open for a 19-yard TD. That was not all for Maier, as he also had a large rush gain as an RB, broke out of multiple tackles on multiple plays all night, and made a juggling INT at the CB spot. In the end, the Webster-Schroeder offense compiled for 420 total yards in a 42 to 21 win over Brockport. On the defensive side of the football for Webster-Schroeder, DE [player_tooltip player_id='527880' first='Noah' last='Wittmer'] wreaked havoc on the Brockport offense.
