Without any further ado, here’s my list of the top performers from week three of the season to keep an eye on as the season progresses.
A the top of my list of notable performers is Kani’ Johnson Kani’ Johnson 5'11" | 185 lbs | ATH Centennial | 2025 State TN , a 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete at Centennial High School. Johnson impressed me with his ability to strike on offense, blasting into the endzone on a quick pass off the snap followed by a touchdown pass in the endzone. I also like Johnson’s consistent stopping power on the defensive side of the ball, hitting the offense quickly off the snap as he collected several crucial stops. Johnson made a huge difference in the Cougars’ 29-23 overtime win over Independence, proving he can breakaway from the defense, stun defensive backs in the endzone and make commanding stops on defense.

I am also impressed with Marshaun Bowers Marshaun Bowers 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Knox. West | 2024 State TN , a 5-foot-9, 175-pound athlete at Knoxville West High School. Bowers showcased electric athleticism and quickness on the field in the 38-31 win over Farragut last Friday, operating as a running back and receiver as he raced past the defense into the endzone multiple times while also hauling in challenging passes down the stretch. On the other side, Bowers impressed me with his height and wingspan, elevating himself off the ground to haul in an interception. What makes Bowers so explosive is how he uses bursts of speed to escape the defense in the pocket. I’m also fond of how Bowers executes defensively, maneuvering the field and disrupting offensive production.

Claiming the number three spot on my list is Drake Fisher Drake Fisher 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Sullivan East | 2024 State TN , a 6-foot-2, 185-pound quarterback at Sullivan East High School. Fisher was highly impactful for the Patriots’ offense during last week’s 40-13 rout of Volunteer, throwing for 359 yards and five total touchdowns. Fisher stood out due to his footwork and ability to get the ball out quickly, slinging bullets into the backfield and into the hands of his receivers. Fisher caught my eye with his precise passing and efficient completion rate on deep throws into the backfield. I also liked his ability to complete challenging completions under pressure and his consistent playmaking ability in the redzone.

Another skilled prospect to watch out for is Tadarius Canada Tadarius Canada 5'10" | 180 lbs | DB Mitchell | 2024 State TN , a 5-foot-10, 180-pound defensive back at Mitchell High School. Canada made a huge difference for the Tigers offensively in last week’s 46-0 blowout win over Oakhaven, hauling in game-changing receptions down the stretch and along the edge. Canada picked up a quick catch-and-run for a touchdown, a deep pass that he turned into an extra score and a kickoff return that he took all the way to the house. What makes Canada so talented is his strong footwork and movement, ability to maneuver the field and his ability to use bursts of speed to breakaway from the defense and escape into the open field.
Tripp Pinion Tripp Pinion 5'11" | 180 lbs | ATH White Co. | 2025 State TN , a 5-foot-11, 175-pound quarterback at White County High School. Despite a close 42-35 loss to Cookeville, Pinion was locked in at the helm of the Warriors’ offense, proving his ability to overpower the defense on the ground with his footwork, speed and ability to find openings in the pocket. What makes Pinion so dangerous is his overall athleticism and durable edge, playing quick off the snap. Pinion utilized his footwork, quickness and ability to absorb defensive contact. I’m also fond of how Pinion is able to create disorganization among the defensive line off the snap, consistently muscling defenders and escaping into the endzone last Friday.
Taeshawn Jefferson Taeshawn Jefferson 5'9" | 185 lbs | DB Germantown | 2024 TN
Taeshawn Jefferson Taeshawn Jefferson 5'9" | 185 lbs | DB Germantown | 2024 TN
Taeshawn Jefferson Taeshawn Jefferson 5'9" | 185 lbs | DB Germantown | 2024 TN , a 5-foot-11, 185-pound athlete at Germantown High School. Jefferson made his presence known on the defensive side of the ball in the Red Devils’ week three victory over Houston by a final score of 14-13. With solid versatility down the stretch, Jefferson managed to both pick off the quarterback in the backfield and stop him along the edge on a dangerous run. Jefferson also caught my eye with his ability to block a field goal kick. What makes Jefferson a strong defensive weapon is his quick execution, physicality and ability to disrupt the offense up close and in the air.
