This is one of the first times since we launched in October 2020 that I felt it was necessary to do multiple parts for our South Dakota Big Dogs of the Week. Let us meet Part II!
Avery Ligon
Avery Ligon
Stat Line: 30 carries, 230 rushing yards, one touchdown
A brand new RB prospect to my radar for Big Dogs of the Week in South Dakota, in Aberdeen Central’s Avery Ligon who was a workhorse in the backfield for the Golden Eagles in their 24-14 win over Sturgis Brown. Even though his tape is extremely light, Avery passes the eye test with his agility with his first move you see with his change of direction. Avery also shows off a back that despite the lack of tape, is a meat-grinder thru contact and shows off a good work ethic for every yard. Hopefully get to see his name pop up more for the Golden Eagles rushing attack as a very under the radar running back to watch out of Aberdeen.
Stat Line: TBD
My gut told before the season that this young man was going to be a stockriser in this 2025 class, and thru the first three weeks Sioux Falls Lincoln DE Luke Krempges Luke Krempges 6’4″ | 225 lbs | DL Sioux Falls Lincoln | 2025 State SD has been just that. Regardless if it is with his hands or downhill motor, Luke plays with a heck of an amount of physicality especially against Sioux Falls Jefferson last week. At 6’5 230 pounds he has the Division I measurables and a wiry first step to the ball, which is consistent throughout his tape. This September the Division I schools have started giving Luke a handful of attention, and I would expect him to be one of the earlier offers in this South Dakota 2025 class. Twitter
Spencer Bartling

Stat Line: N/A
Spencer is a left tackle that popped out last Friday night to my eyes against Sioux Falls Roosevelt as a 6’1 280 pound hog molly that packs a punch. I love the finish Spencer has with his drive blocking, as a one that gets to the second level with persistence and has forceful speed when he has control of his blocker with an edgy downhill presence. My fellow PRZ Dakotas scout called it out back in April and it still holds true, that Spencer is significantly under the radar still waiting for that first offer out of the 2024 class. Twitter
Ethan Vis

Stat Line: TBD
Ethan was a 2024 defensive back prospect that popped out to me this summer as one of my standouts from the Augie prospect camp, and the instinct he shows on tape in a tough loss against Sioux Fall O’Gorman. Ethan also shows off well-versed vision whether in pass coverage or playing off the ball, as a DB that finds just enough wiggle room to finish on tackles getting off his blocks. Ethan certainly looks to me as a NSIC target that should get more attention brewing into mid-season from Dakotas NSIC programs. Twitter
Stat Line: TBD
Based on last week’s tape, it is clear why the South Dakota State quarterback commit Jack Henry Jack Henry QB Dell Rapids | 2024 State SD has quick upside that the Jackrabbits saw earlier than anyone as I like the development of the poise Jack has grown in and outside of the pocket. Jack has also developed better ball placement with his arm strength with his growing chemistry with his Quarriers wide receivers as this kid might have the best arm strength outside of the pocket that South Dakota has in the 2024 class. Jack will certainly be a climber in our 2024 rankings after the season, as a QB prospect that has a super bright future. Twitter
Stat Line: 327 total yards (254 rush, 73 receiving)
The word big is an understatement to show off the game that Sioux Falls Roosevelt had last Friday in their 35-26 win over Sioux Falls Washington. Jaxsen ran with a chip on his shoulder for the Rough Riders as he also was excellent getting thru heavy contact areas. He also had extremely instinctive vision as an north-south runner that ran with probably the most fluidity we saw from the running back position in South Dakota last week. How Jaxsen doesn’t have an offer yet that we can track, is unreal to me as he has been the workhorse for the Rough Riders rushing attack this season as the #11 ranked overall prospect in South Dakota’s 2024 class.
