The football season is cruising right along across the state of Texas. We have plenty of news taking place on the recruiting front this week. Recruiting news is always active this time of year and it was a busy week from a recruiting perspective. Here is some recruiting news to pay attention to this weekend.

[player_tooltip player_id='288983' first='Daylon' last='Singleton']-Wide Receiver-DeSoto-2025

Over the past few seasons, [player_tooltip player_id='288983' first='Daylon' last='Singleton'] has opened plenty of eyes at the wide receiver spot. He is a dangerous player to contain with the ball in his hands. Singleton does a good job of breaking tackles and making plays in the open field. The talented DeSoto wide receiver committed to the SMU Mustangs on Friday. Watch out for Singleton the rest of the season, he has the talent to put up some big numbers this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='278020' first='Ephraim' last='Dotson']-Defensive Back-Fort Bend Hightower-2024

Dotson is a cornerback that has the talent to completely lock down one side of the field. He does a great job of playing the ball while it is in the air. Dotson has the hands to pick off passes and take it the opposite direction. Earlier in the week, the talented Hightower product earned a scholarship offer from Utah State. Dotson has the potential to have a big senior season for Hightower.

Nigel Smith-Defensive Line-Melissa-2024

Nigel Smith does a great job of exploding off of the line and getting into the opposing offensive backfield. He plays the run well as well as the pass. Smith can pressure the quarterback and does a good job of getting his hands up to deflect the pass. On Friday, the talented Melissa defensive lineman placed his verbal commitment with the Oklahoma Sooners. Keep an eye on Smith and Melissa this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='212437' first='Quinn' last='Murphy']-Quarterback-Austin Regents-2026

The Austin Regents signal caller is an accurate passer that does a good job of connecting with his wide receivers. He is a quarterback that can fit the football into some tight windows. Murphy has impressive pocket awareness and has a nice sense of knowing when to escape the pocket. Murphy earned a scholarship offer from the Baylor Bears on Friday of this week. The next few seasons should be extremely interesting for Murphy and Regents.

Preston Honeycutt-Offensive Line-Hutto-2024

Preston Honeycutt is a versatile offensive lineman that can play multiple positions along the offensive line. He has good quickness and can cut out front on screens and draws. Honeycutt plays with a chip on his shoulder and looks to finish every block. He had the opportunity to visit the Houston Cougars a few days ago. He is an offensive lineman with the potential to play on Saturdays in the future.
