We had some defenders who put matters into their own hands this past week. Defensive players stepped up at crucial times and flexed their muscles, putting stops to their opposition. Below, we have players who were constant throughout their respected games and just showed a different motor getting to the ball. These players did not let up and continued to play fast and physical until the final whistle was blown. Their play did all of the talking and because of that, they ended up on this list for week 2.

Sowell was flying all over the field in the win vs Katy. He was running down hill, fitting into lanes, and setting the edge when he needed to. Sowell was aggressive the entire night and played a huge role in halting the Tiger offense. Sowell had a scoop and score and a pick that helped get the Eagles the dub.

Coffie patrolled the middle of the field all game long and made sure to be in on almost every stop of the game. From his linebacker spot, Coffie made read after read, locating the ball, redirecting, and rallying to the ball carrier. He got off of blocks quickly, and showed serious blitzing abilities, shooting through the A gap and leveling the quarterback. Coffie played an overall great game that helped lead the team to a dominating win.

Devione Baptiste | DT | Bridgeland | 2025

Baptiste was clogging up the middle and causing havoc for majority of the game. His ability to stay low and get under his opposition worked to his advantage. Baptiste fought double teams and applied pressure throughout the night, finished with 10+ tackles, and recovered the OT fumble by outrunning both the opposing QB and RB for the ball, ultimately securing his teams victory.
