’24 QB/DB Trey Maaland Trey Maaland QB Deuel | 2024 State SD had another good week on both sides of the ball. Really showing his arm and accuracy this week zipping some dimes to his receivers. Also getting it done on the ground as well, grinding out those tough yards for the key plays in the game. Defensively, he stepped up in the passing game as well as continuing to be a big presence in run support.
’24 OL/DL Kaden TeKrony filled right into the offensive and defensive lines after missing last week for the rodeo! His sheer size was a game changer, then add his strength and awareness and he is a force on the interior line. Defensively, he plugged the gaps all game long really stopping the rushing attack. He also added some huge QB pressure on passing downs.
’26 WR/DB Oliver Fieber Oliver Fieber 5'10" | 150 lbs | WR Deuel | 2026 State SD stepped up this week and showed he can be a threat in the passing game. He used his speed to jet by defenders and his hands reeled in some nice passed. Also no slouch in the blocking game as he kept his defender away from the ballcarrier consistently. Defensively, he did an excellent job sticking to his receiver all game and keeping the passing attack in check.
’25 OL/LB Reed VanWormer did a great job at the LB position again this week. His reads are quick and effective on every play and he finishes them with a bang. Avoiding blocks while still finding the perfect angle to the ballcarrier. Whether it’s blitzing off the edge, or filling on run support in the middle, he finds his way to the ball. Also bringing that same fire over the offensive side and helping the run game.
’24 OL/DL Aidan Baer executed his roles on both sides of the ball nicely each and every play. Really shining on defense, keeping his contain while not giving up ground. Also flying around and getting the plays that came his way on run support. Offensively, he does an excellent job having consistently good snaps and still maintaining his blocking assignment.
Aberdeen Roncalli Cavaliers
’24 OL/LB Josh Shaunaman was a huge run stuffer for their defensive unit. Any time a run gap opened, he was charging through it to meet the ballcarrier there. Really showed his tackling technique when he got to the gap. Lowering his center-of-gravity, putting his shoulder pad in the right spot, wrapping up and driving the ballcarrier back. Offensively, he was a god puller and sparked the run game with his blocks.
’24 OL/DL Joey Johnson was a focal point on the offensive line. His down blocks usually opened up the gaps for the run game. Once he latched on to his block, he was driving until the whistle. On the defensive side, he was one of the better run pluggers I’ve seen. Keeping his leverage off the snap and sticking the offensive linemen in their tracks.
’25 RB/LB Brody Weinmeister gave the offense a good rushing out of the backfield. His size and power made him a tough tackle, especially when he kept his legs driving after contact. Doubling over as a good receiving threat out of the backfield. Once he was in the open field, he was a problem to take down as well. Defensively, he was a good run filler, but also helped out in the passing game as well.
’25 WR/DB Noah Kramer was a good pass defender. He made life very difficult for the receivers on each and every pass his way. Also adding a good tackler on the perimeter, but could also fill in the box if need be. On the offensive side of the ball, he gave the offense a good passing threat up the seam out of the slot.
’25 QB/LB Zane Backous Zane Backous 6'1" | 200 lbs | LB Aberdeen Roncalli | 2025 State SD was the kid we prepped for all week. The primary rushing attack out of the backfield ripped off good chunks of yards consistently. Also throwing a good ball on vertical routes with a lot of arm strength. Defensively, we always made sure we knew where he was. He does an excellent job timing snaps and getting in the backfield in a hurry. If not, he eats up blocks anyways.
