Khyair Spain Khyair Spain 5'9" | 195 lbs | RB Parkview | 2024 State GA – Parkview
The state’s 2nd leading rusher among all juniors last season, it’s safe to say the 5-foot-10 200-pounder is bound for another monster season this fall, and it will start on Wednesday night when Parkview takes on a talented Kell Longhorn team. The Gwinnett County standout ran through 7A defenses on a weekly basis last year, showing toughness, physicality, and the ability to break tackles with ease. Running behind a massive, reliable offensive line, Spain does a great job of following his blocks, and when he gets into the second level, he’s tough to get down to the ground. Spain rushed for 2,383 yards and 16 touchdowns last season, proving he can play at the next level. Averaging just under 200 yards a game, Spain was without a doubt one of the best and most reliable backs across Georgia last year. Look for him to carry the ball often on the first night of the Corky Kell Classic.
Makari Bodiford Makari Bodiford 6'0" | 210 lbs | RB McEachern | 2024 State GA – Walton
A tough, tackle-breaking back from Cobb County who had a giant junior season this fall, Bodiford lead the Raiders to a big season on the ground, rushing 176 times for 1,249 yards and 16 touchdowns this season. As good as Hecklinski was been through the air last year, Bodiford was been just as good on the ground. He gets tough yards, keeps the chains moving, and always looking to score. He’s one of the top 2024 QBs in the metro-Atlanta area and will have plenty of chances to make plays this weekend. He’ll be running behind a big, talented offensive line and will look to continue his strong play into this season at the Corky Kell Classic. He’ll be running against a tough Grayson defense, so if he can have a big game, look for him to have a giant senior season this fall.
Roderick McCrary – Creekside
One of the top two-way players in the Atlanta area, McCrary is an outstanding natural athlete who knows how to run the football. One of the more productive backs in Atlanta last season, McCrary will be one of the top returning rushers in 5A heading into the 2023 season. A speedy, explosive back who can break tackles and elude defenders down the field, McCrary rushed for an outstanding 1,489 yards last year along with 17 touchdowns. The Creekside athlete rushed for at least 100 yards in nine games last year and reached that mark in each of his final five games of the season, leading them to an outstanding 10-3 season. There were only four games last year in which McCrary did not find the end-zone. He’s a big-time athlete and expected to run wild on defenses as a senior in 2023. He’ll have his first test of the season Friday evening against Kennesaw Mountain.
Brayden Tyson Brayden Tyson 6'0" | 215 lbs | RB Brookwood | 2027 State GA – ATH – Brookwood
One of the top 2027 prospects and young running backs in Georgia, Tyson is a tough, physical prospect with D1-caliber size already at 6-foot-0 210-pounds. He’s just a freshman, but there’s plenty of hype surrounding Tyson, so look for him to see the field during the Corky Kell Classic against McEachern on Saturday. A natural athlete with quick feet and a physical build, it’s safe to say he has a real chance of making a big name for himself for the Brookwood Broncos this upcoming fall. He looks the part of a big-time prospect already and loves to compete. He has the potential to be a tackle-breaking machine running the football, and he knows how to run down the ball-carrier at linebacker as well. He already holds offers from South Carolina, Arkansas, and South Florida. If you don’t know his name yet, you might know it after this opening weekend.
