Preseason Preview: Mater Dei (Breese, IL)

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The knights went 4-5 last season narrowly missing the IHSA playoffs for the first time since 2017. I look for them to return to the playoffs this year leaning on their senior returners. Returning experience and leadership in key positions should set the knights up for success in 2023. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='271907' first='Trenton' last='Zeeb'] 2024 QB (6'2 190) - </strong>Trenton is someone college coaches will be keeping a close eye on this season. He's been picking up some real recruiting interests after performing well this summer at camps. Trenton throws with a lot of zip on the ball often fitting it into some tight windows. He also can hurt defense with his running ability, running different variations of designed quarterback run plays for the offense. I look for Trenton to have a breakout season this year as he leads Mater Dei offense. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Landon Grapperhaus 2024 DB/WR (6'2 185) - </strong>Landon also hit the college camp circuit this summer building some recruiting momentum for his senior season. Landon has a knack for playing the safety position. He has smooth hips and good feet. He has a good understanding of reading wide receivers giving him the ability to jump routes breaking up passes. Landon also posses good top end speed showcasing that with his punter returning ability. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='899320' first='Dalton' last='Timmermann'] 2024 OL/DL (6'2 247) - </strong>Dalton is entering his third year as a two-way starter. In 2022 he was able to impact games on defense registering 61 tackles and 8 sacks. On offense he is physical at the guard spot. He plays with great leverage always looking to finish his blocks with the defender on the ground. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>[player_tooltip player_id='898649' first='Markus' last='Kerher'] 2024 TE/LB (6'2 201) -</strong> Markus was the leading tackler for the knights as a junior last year. I look for him to carry that momentum into his senior season. He plays with a high motor flying all around the field making plays for the defense. He's in a defensive scheme that utilizes his ability to rush the quarterback registering 8 sacks last season. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p><strong>Brock Revermann 2024 RB/LB (5'11 174) - </strong>Brock plays opposite of Markus at the outside linebacker position. He's a scrappy player who is not afraid to stick his nose in there. He's smart player who can read and react quickly on plays. Brock will build off of last year's success were he ended the season with 45 tackles on defense. </p> <!-- /wp:paragraph --> <!-- wp:paragraph --> <p></p> <!-- /wp:paragraph -->
