A new coaching staff took over at Thibodaux this offseason with a young team and 16 graduating starters to replace. The rising senior corner has been one of the clear leaders coach Drey Trosclair and defensive coordinator Mike Woods said they have seen in the secondary and program with his drive and work ethic to prepare himself for this fall and beyond, in particular with notable strides in the weight room.

The standout safety for Lake Charles College Prep kicked off the quartet of commitments Friday with his pledge to nearby Stephen F. Austin, just under three hours northwest. The son of LCCP coach Erick Franklin, a former Louisiana Tech wide receiver, has been a constant top-100 prospect in Prep Redzone Louisiana's rankings for the 2024 class throughout their high school career and had been recruited by a slew of programs, including the Bulldogs, ULM, Nicholls State, Memphis, Troy, Central Arkansas and others.

The biggest Louisiana recruiting new to close the month capped a whirlwind week overall for one of the state's top rising senior offensive lineman. Cryer had started the summer by committing to Ole Miss before receiving an offer from LSU this past Wednesday, visiting Baton Rouge this weekend, reopening his recruitment Sunday and announcing Monday his pledge to the Tigers. He became the fourth offensive lineman to join the class which also recently added Many star [player_tooltip player_id='139482' first='Tylen' last='Singleton'], Cryer's former and now-future teammate.

Georgetown landed one of Louisiana's most productive pass-catchers from this past season Monday when the speedy Dunham receiver announced his commitment. Comeaux, whose recruitment had also included Davidson among the notable suitors, earned all-state recognition as a junior with 1,069 yards and 13 touchdowns on 37 receptions — an eye-popping 28.8-yard average that helped stretch opposing defenses during the Tigers' memorable run to its first state title appearance since 2004.

[player_tooltip player_id='144878' first='Will' last='Loerzel'] | 6-3, 220 TE | Isidore Newman —> South Alabama

South Alabama continued its solid run of recruiting Louisiana — and particularly New Orleans private schools — with the commitment announcement of the Greenies' big, physical tight end. The Jaguars list eight players from the state on their 2023 roster, including a combined five from Jesuit, Archbishop Rummel and De La Salle. Loerzel, whose recruitment had also included Army and Southern Miss among other heavy suitors, would be arguably South Alabama's biggest recruiting win yet in Louisiana.
